About Me

Matthew Whitty brings a wealth of life experience to his artistic endeavors. His athleticism is a defining component of Matthew’s character.
As a pre-teen, he began his skating career at the Taunton, Massachusetts Silver City Arena. Starting on quads, he soon became interested in the more challenging, high speed skating he saw being done by a handful of older teens and young adults he watched practicing for competitions. After speaking with some of the parents and skaters, he soon convinced his family to invest in his first pair of professional, five-wheel in-lines. He soon joined the Silver City Speed Team, and began competing throughout New England and the Mid-Atlantic region.
Matthew skated in the Northeast Regional held in Warwick, Rhode Island in 2000. That same year, he placed 3rd. in his first indoor meet in Syracuse, New York and placed 2nd Overall at the NIRA National’s competition in New Jersey. He skated the Athens to Atlanta race in 2001, but was unable to finish due to a broken frame, which failed well into that 86 mile race. As he gained more experience, he traveled more extensively, and between 2002 and 2004, he skated with the Long View Texas Sprinters, Los Rapidos, and Craz-zies/Raps skate shop in Long Beach, California. Over these past five years, Matthew was befriended by a number of superb skaters to whom he is indebted for their good counsel and support, including Stephen Carter and Theresa Cliff Ryan.
In addition to his skating, Matthew is an accomplished golfer who in his senior year was voted all-scholastic by local media. Matthew will be attending some of the smaller tours and then see if he can someday qualify for the PGA tour.
Generous and unselfish, Matthew has devoted a great deal of time and effort to service in Special Olympics. He is one of the Venue Coordinator’s at the Winter Games ice skating competitions in Worcester, Massachusetts and for the past two years has served as roller skating Venue Coordinator for the Massachusetts Summer Games held at Harvard Stadium. Having struggled with the challenges of severe Dyslexia and other medical challenges as a youngster, Matthew has devoted much of his energies to service in Special Olympics and Kids with a Cause in Cuvler City Ca as a Ambassador.
He has done some modeling and is hoping that this may lead to performance opportunities. At six-feet five inches, Matthew’s photographs well, and he would be an ideal candidate for clothing and athletic equipment promotion. Truly a power of example as a survivor of a number of serious challenges, Matthew’s approach to his future is to “Keep moving ahead or you will never know what was planned for you in life” and also “Live every day like it’s going to be your last because you never know when it will end.”
