About Me

More Fire Records is in the process of composing, compiling and releasing Aoteroan (New Zealand) Dancehall music. Being a newly formed independant label in the South Pacific we are chiefly concerned with making solid tracks that we can feel proud of and that we know the people will enjoy rather than focusing on moving units at this stage. The labels first pre release is a mix of Jam Rastaman a colaboration from local producer Jnr Ranks and Samoan vocalist Hamokane and is available here on mp3.

Band Members: Look forward to future releases from Jnr Ranks, The Mighty Asterix, Stada, Lei-D-Lee, Jules Issa Dancehall Dons and more... Also we are keen to hear from deejays and singers who would be keen to collaberate on some of the riddims that more fire are working on and can help contact artists on our label if you wish to work with them. This myspace page is designed, maintained and operated by Jnr Ranks
Influences: Wellington an more aptly Porirua is the birthplace of New Zealand reggae. Bands like Chaos and later the likes of Sticks and Shanty and Dread Beat and Blood layed the foundation for generations to come to embrace reggae as a feeling and a heartical function. I would also like to pay tribute to the Twelve Tribes of Isreal house in Auckland for its contributions physically, mentaly and spiritualy to reggae music in this country. The list of influence in this country alone are endless without listing generations of Jamican and American artists who inspire the singers and players and the selectors ,deejays and fans of Aotearoa.
Sounds Like: More Fire Records is all about fostering the artist producer relationship essential in making good dancehall tunes and draw heavily from the rub a dub style of deejaying and believe that a good riddim has potential above and beyond one song.Grant Smithies of the Sunday Star-Times writes..."In the time-honoured jamaican tradition, Jump Rasta nails a sweet roots vocal to a heavy bass thump ensuring your feet are moved as well as your soul. Tough, smartm streetwise and soulful, this is top-shelf Aotearoan dancehall business, cant wait for a full album..."Listen for yourself
