About Me

Titus Bellwald
percussionist, sound tweaker, and to some degree composer. Studied classical percussion (both pedagogy and performance) and Medienkunst (as specialty) at HKB, Berne, Switzerland.
for the las three years i've spent much of my time practicing persian Tombak and other hand percussion instruments (such as Riq, Tamburello and other frame drums). I play those in Ancient and "World" music as well as i try to use them in a contemporary context. Currently i'm at the Cité Internationale des Arts in Paris, where i work on both my percussive skills and ways of combining hand percussion with various sensors into live electronical settings.
My teachers lately have been/are Keyvan and Bijan Chemirani , Madjid Khaladj, Antoine Morineau and Pedram Khavarzamini (Tombak), Roberto Chiga (Tamburello) and Zohar Fresco (Riq and frame drums). My few compositions can be downloaded (with the Max-patches) from this site . There you can also listen to some stuff i' ve made. There is a piece for Timpani and live electronics called "Mimesis", and a piece for Percussion Set-Up and live electronics called "7 616900 234013 für modifiziertes Schlagzeug"
And for those understanding swiss german or wanting to expose themselves to some lingual borderline experience, there is a portrait of my late Grandmother and her cooking (quality swiss rural cuisine!!!):
