Migrant Records has been around since 2001. It was started by several friends and musicians who had long played together in different bands or as mutual sidemen.
Recently, Migrant has shifted emphasis from being a fully-formed (albeit very, very small and sometimes completely dormant) label to more of a digital stage for the musicians who have recorded under the Migrant banner over the last several years. The primary showplace for much of this music is http://www.migrantrecords.com , where a combination of easily-accessible songs and regularly-updated content is hoped to be the catalyst that will bring an audience to some very good music. It also supplies insight into how music is made: through use of demos, outtakes, and finished songs, the listener can chart how songs are written, arranged, recorded, and performed.
The Song of the Day is the center of the site. The SotD will change every few days, with an archive available for repeated listening and multiple opportunities to hear something new for the day. There’s a journal written by those at Migrant and updated regularly. Photo albums are updated regularly, as well, such as they are. Please visit early and often: www.migrantrecords.com .
