Hothead Fiasco

About Me

....

.. ..

The Hothead Fiasco were an eight piece retro swing/jazz band that mined the rich musical landscape of the first half of the Twentieth Century. Horn heavy barrel house of the 20’s hot jazz fuel the fire they use to burn through classic swing, ragtime, and the big band eras. When things get heated, they cool it down with some 50’s film noir and torchy ballads.....

.. ..

From ....Minneapolis.., ..MN...., the Hotheads featured multiple lead vocalists and, with their wealth of voices, back each other up with gorgeous two, three and four part harmonies. Captured on their latest release “Cold Feet” is a collection of inspired songwriting and awesome arrangements. Combined with the excellent musicianship & the energy of their live shows, The Hothead Fiasco were a ‘force to be reckoned with’ for the 90’s.....

.. ..

The members of the The Hothead Fiasco come from several of the Twin Cities most celebrated bands including neo-swing pioneers the Strawdogs , alt-rockers Glenrustles , DOG994, Three Car Garage, & Zen Bishops. Dana Thompson was well known for her Billie Holiday tributes, and Aaron Adkins was performing with the Aaron Adkins Trio. With a repertoire that takes the listener through the 20’s all the way through present pop culture, it’s difficult to put the Hotheads into any category but their own.....

.. ..

The Hothead Fiasco were headliners in the Twin Cities most famous night spots including First Avenue, The Fine Line, The Turf Club, Lee’s Liquor Lounge, The Dakota, and the Loring Bar. The band’s diverse sound has placed them in support of Royal Crown Revue, the Jayhawks , and Brave Combo. They played the halftime show at the January 10th, 1999 playoff game between the Minnesota Vikings and Arizona Cardinals. They also appeared at South By Southwest 1999 in ....Austin.., ..TX...., and were the featured group at Garrison Keillor’s 25 th Anniversary Party for A Prairie Home Companion November 1999.....

.. ..

The Hothead Fiasco’s debut CD, Hot Head Swing Band, bootleg was recorded live and released on July, 3rd 1998 at the Fine Line Music Cafe, ....Minneapolis.., ..MN..... The St. Paul Pioneer Press described the CD as “timeless, well executed and fabulously danceable.” Their 2000 release . Cold Feet , was reviewed as “a sophisticated sound that goes beyond the dance floor”. ....
