APRA/AMCOS Emily Burrows Award
An experiment in arranging tunes and songs using just three fiddles and voice has created the unique and entertaining sound of the Fiddle Chicks. Starting with favourite Celtic tunes, the Chicks have moved on to embrace Blues/Country, Bulgarian, Jazz and Gypsy to contemporary folk—and had a lot of fun along the way! Add to this the band’s own vibrant originals and some digital effects to highlight the diversity of the fiddle, and the result is an eclectic and inspiring repertoire. Their sound “goes from the whimsical to the dramaticâ€!
