Smithville Records was founded by long time friends - Michael Berney, Darin Karnes, Jeff Smith and Robert Chesney. Each of them have been in and around the music business most of their lives and all share the same love for vintage music. With the continued lack of air play for classic artists this label was created to help draw attention to and keep the old classic sounds alive.
We are an innovative, independent record label and a strong advocate for independent music production and promotion. Why? Because the main stream music industry seems to be more interested in revenue than music and far too many wonderful artists are overlooked by major labels. This is why we highly encourage independent recording and promotion for all unsigned musicians.
We have years of experience in the music and recording business between our founders and love the traditional/vintage country, old rock and/or rockabilly, blues and jazz sounds. We are located in the foot hills of the Great Smokey Mountains in Powell, Tennessee with a satellite facility, HLM Studios, based in Fargo North Dakota. Together we will always work hard to bring quality music, service and support to our customers, clients and artists alike.
