My music was originally inspired by my beautiful sister Kara. As she left to embrace a new life on the Pacific shores of Pismo Beach, California, I was determined not to let her leave Nashville without an intimate piece of myself for her to take on her journey. I sat down with my travel-sized acoustic guitar and an old iMac to flesh out of the songs and melodies I've had floating around inside my mind over these last couple of years. The result was far from perfect, but hey, it allowed me to begin to overcome my insecurities about my music -- and more importantly -- about myself. Through times marred by darkness and pain, my guitar has been my refuge. For me, music is my most direct connection with God. One thing I've learned through my short stint as a musician, is that when this life doesn't make any sense, music still does. When no other shelter stands, a couple of chords and a melody will. My music is medicine for me; I hope it may be the same for you.
