About Me
His day begins when most people retire for the evening. At midnight, Legend walks into the venue, musically primed, vigorous and ready to take partygoers to that climatic state.
The man on the mic and behind the turntable -- electrifies the crowd each and every time he steps into the DJ booth. The popular New York City DJ, Legend, formally known as Legend Sound has dominated venues for over ten years, infusing every party with his infectious energy, and commanding voice. The pre-eminent DJ sends the crowd through a crash course in musical genres -- masterfully spinning the best in Hip Hop, Reggae, Reggaeton, House, Old School and 80s popular dance music. His passion for music is revealed each time he steps into the DJ booth, creating mayhem!
Prominently, identified for rocking the urban nightlife, Legend is credited as one of the pioneer nightclub DJ’s -- responsible for bringing reggae music to the forefront of Manhattan’s premier nightclubs. Prior to 2003, Hip Hop related New York City promoters did not feature DJ’s specializing in Dancehall/Reggae. In order to hear Caribbean influenced music, partygoers were forced to travel outside Manhattan’s borders. The call for a change came when in 2003 Legend performed an authentic dancehall set in an exclusive Manhattan nightclub creating pandemonium in the nightclub. The demand for Legend began after that performance and has not slowed down! Yet, Legend is quick to cite those DJs who have preceded him; the likes of Mr. Cee, Goldfinger, Stone Love, Red Alert and Kid Capri -- have all been fundamental influences in his career.
In a field in where there is always a new guy bringing new tricks to the game, Legend constantly ups the ante. With over ten years of worldwide tours under his belt, he has the experience that most DJ’s only dream of; and with musical tastes ranging from Capleton to Bon Jovi and Prince to Big Daddy Kane, there is never a dull moment when he is on the turntable. With highlighted performances for stadiums of 10,000 to venues of 5,000 people; Legend has secured mainstay in many premier New York City events. On the national level, Legend is impossible to miss. Making some feature appearances in Miami, Dominican Republic, Cancun, ATL, Philly, Buffalo, and Albany, as well as booking a date in Ghana for December 2008. Legend has also garnered major attention, with highlighted performances alongside Elephant Man, Sizzla, Movado, Beenie Man, Mr. Vegas, Swizz Beats, Alicia Keys, Ryan Leslie, Sheek Louch, and the co-sign of popular British actor Idris Elba of HBO’s The Wire just to mention a few.
For Legend, music and sports also seem to go hand in hand. As the new official DJ to Athletes for Charity, an organization that aims at supporting the philanthropic and volunteer efforts of Athletes of all genres. This turntable titan knows no boundaries. Legend has reached a status as a great Dancehall DJ, yet, wants to challenge his brand outside of reggae. Legend continues his pursuit to be the most sought after crossover DJ to ever successfully transition as a popular Dancehall/Reggae DJ to a mainstream DJ. Legend will infinitely be a major force in the entertainment industry with future prospects of pursuing a career in hosting and radio; yet, maintaining relevance in the nightclubs.
