Cordcalling, an edgy rock duo based in London, ON, is "doing more with less" (Jason Schneider of Kitchener ON's The Record, 2008). After playing with various other musicians, Denise and Brian Conway realized that they could reveal their creative talent best on their own. So, in 2006, they took the leap and began writing and performing songs that would uncover their unique musical style. Since, they have been making their mark on southwestern ON's music scene. Their CD, entitled "When I Scream", recorded at EMAC Studios in London, ON, and released in 2008, is available for purchase through Itunes, CD Baby, GroupieTunes, Tradebit, Ruckus, Grooves Record Store (London, ON) and at live performances. The CD includes the title track, "When I Scream", a grungy Nirvana-influenced hard-hitting rock song; "Wicked Desires", a pop-alternative catchy tune; and "Erasing", an intriguing and complex composition, which has been described by Dave Clarke (Scene Magazine, London, ON,2008) as the CD's "strongest track, trot[ting] out a psychedelic wah-wah guitar, weird time changes and some interesting background vocals". Cordcalling is best known for their poetic lyrics, passionate vocals, innovative guitar work, and emotional drumming. Their unpredictable time changes and fusion of various musical styles makes their live performances beam with raw energy and their recordings a refreshing listen. Cordcalling's broad creative musical playground is summed up in Dave Clarke's description of their CD, "Cordcalling manages to mix punk, psych, grunge and Goth over the course of three tracks." Cordcalling embodies the undertones of their name. Cord is the spiritual bond that connects them to one another and to their Maker. Calling is symbolic of Denise and Brian's belief that everyone has a purpose. Cordcalling's purpose is to express to the world, in their unique and sincere way, the inner cries of the soul.TOP SOUTHWESTERN ON VENUES AT WHICH CORDCALLING HAS PLAYED: Toronto, ON: Canadian Music Week, The Horseshoe Tavern; Burlington, ON: The Legendary Red Rooster Vintage Café; London, ON: Call the Office, The Salt Lounge, Norma Jean’s, The Embassy Hotel, Music Hall Lounge; Kitchener, ON: The Circus Room; St. Thomas, ON: Pinafore Park Bandshell; Woodstock, ON: Juliana's, Shades of GreenNOTABLE BANDS WITH WHICH CORDCALLING HAS SHARED THE STAGE: The Cliks, Boss Rebel, The Dirty Love Band, Proposterous, HotKid, The Lady Racers, and Sex ButlerINFLUENCES: Nirvana, The White Stripes, Franz FerdinandMEDIA: Radio: IndieCan Radio; CHRW-94.9 FM, London, ON; live performance/interview on 100.3 CKMS FM (Nov,2008), Kitchener, ON; live performance/interview on 106.9 FM (2007), London, ON; WLUSU FM-Radio LaurierPrint: The National Post (March 10, 2009); CD Reviewed in SCENE Magazine, London, ON (2008); The London Free Press (2009), London, ON; The Londoner (July, 2008), London, ON; feature article in The Record (Aug 2008), Kitchener, ON newspaper; The Exeter Advocate (2007), Exeter, ON newspaperTelevision: A-Channel Morning Television Program (2006), London, ONInternet: Feature band on Indiesolo.com twice (2008), Movementz Magazine, Toronto, ON (2008)Masthead Banner Made with MyBannerMaker.com!
