About Me

I'll try to upload more stuff soon, I have dialup so I cant at home. Plus not much is really ready for the public. People wouldnt be able to handle it and theyd die.

I made Cyborg couple years ago with a goofy little looping program and some game samples. It's just the second half of the song, idk why I only uploaded half but im sure there was a reason. There's going to be an updated version with scratching and whatnot. maybe thats why.

The rock mashup was thrown together in haste for the little rock concert to benefit darfur at Brady, which yes, I DJed. That too will be updated. Pretty much no songs i do are ever truly done. Deal.

My Interests

Music:

Band Members: Me - I scratch, make little mashup things, and make songs but rarely ever finish them. I've got a Numark CDX and a Numark usb mixer, i use a few different software programs to make beats, synths, chop loops, arrange, etc.

Look for future work with John Tomai, Jae Chan Park (hopefully) and others
Influences: My biggest biggest influence would be DJ Shadow. I had known about him for a few years and liked one song of his, which was all i had really listened to. Then when i went to New York with Tomai i heard a ton of Shadow and loved it. I just recently got his Live DVD, and its so dope. Many call him the founder of trip hop, but he denies this because he's so modest and awesome.

Probly the first band that made me like scratching was Sugar Ray, back in 4th - 5th grade. Then in 6th grade, Linkin Park, a band which i still love no matter what people say. Numb and Breaking the habit sucked, i wasnt crazy about them and then the radio killed them more. I recently found out that Jae Chan Park is a distant cousin of Joe Hahn, the DJ for Linkin. Dope.
So in 6th grade i wanted to sortof be a dj, but not the radio kind or the wedding kind. In 8th grade i bought my first turntablism cd, Return of the DJ volume 4. It wasn't what i was expecting, i was thinking it'd be like breakdancing-type music, but it's all chopped up old hiphop and scratching. I liked it. I now have volumes 1 and 2, and am still looking for 3.
It was volume 4 that introduced me to DJ Q-Bert, pretty much the best at scratching.
Anyway, i always wanted a turntable but my mom's was broken so i couldnt practice on that. I never found one at the salvation army or anywhere. Probly around freshman year i picked up a copy of Scratch Magazine. I learned that theres even sheet music for scratching and found out about brands and whatnot. I started reading more mags like that at Borders.
blah blah blah basically i never could bring myself to spend the money on ebay for one, idk why just cuz. i was torn between a regular turntable which would be cheaper but then id have to buy records and i wouldnt be able to make my own scratch cuts cds, which i do. so around xmas 06 i finally bought it new on ebay. hooray. Got the mixer in mid february. yay.

Other major influences: DJ Food, which is a lot like DJ Shadow, only more genres. They have fat beats, but also anything from jazz to jungle to ambient. Also DJ Premier, a king of hiphop production.
Sounds Like: the focus is the beat

Dope hip hop beats with scratching, samples.

Trip hop, which is hiphop beats with sample and ambience that makes the listener feel as though theyre going on a musical trip. It's good stuff.

A little drum n bass, and a few electronica techno type things.

Some dub-type stuff, but I have yet to make any true dub like i want to. Those of you that dont know, dub is reggae, stripped of most of all the lyrics, and made with more emphasis on percussion and effects (like echos). My influences here would be Scientist and King Tubby.
