About Me

what is debbie's thing? i'm debbie. i play cello, guitar, write songs, and sing. this is my music sight. i am one of those rare folks who was born and raised in vegas. i have had instruments around me my whole life and sang as i did everything when i was little. we had a piano that i played on until i was 7, and then my mom gave me violin lessons. in 7th grade, i fell in love with the cello, and we are still together to this day! my dad always had guitars lying around, so it was very familiar to me. in my freshman (and only) year at loyola in new orleans i took a required guitar class, and the songwriting began! i love lyrics and interesting chords. my style varies and can be haunting, silly, smooth, and thoughtful. i have been compared to many people, including joni mitchell, alanis morrisette, joan baez, and your mom! i personally don't think i sound like any of them! i am working on my 2nd album, and will be posting songs as i go. so far it's just rough mixes. the bass player i'm working with is kevin andreason. he also plays the charlie hunter 8 string guitar in the band 'superstar bingo'. they rock. he really adds demension to my songs. the drummer is also from 'superstar bingo'. his name is robert burns. he rocks too! i hope you like them. check back for new stuff, and check out my personal sight. another song is playing there. enjoy the music, enjoy life! **********if you happen to listen to the 3rd song, Feeling Unordinary, that is off my first album Sessions From the Floor. That's my friend Mark Hokenson on bass, Ken Mowry on percussion, me on the other stuff. ********** debbie's deep thought: bow to the stirring that most ignore, and then your savior will be on his knees... ***

I might regret this. . .

So. I just finished my rough mix, just-to-get-it-down recording of a song who's last verse has been eluding me for about a month. The song itself began as a one verse idea forever ago. It would com...

To Describe One’s Own Music

I was recently asked to describe what kind of music I play. It is so hard to do, because I don't sound like anything I listen to! Unfortunately, because I play acoustic guitar, I am shoved into the ...
