X Plane set out with one goal in mind from the beginning: to create great live Drum & Bass. Influenced by artists like Roni Size, Pendulum, and Boom Boom Satellites, their live performances blend a DJ set and a rock show creating an explosive atmosphere. Not only do their fans dance like they're at an all-night rave, but they are moved in a way that only a live performance can bring about.
Vocalist and lyricist Peter Michell first met producer Bynn Sharper in early 2007 at a weekly DnB event in NYC. After writing several songs in just two months, they began auditioning drummers. They needed the extra punch and fills that only a live drummer could bring and they found it in Mike Morales. The three began rehearsing and playing shows immediately and were met with a positive response, especially at dance venues. After a few months, X Plane earned a residency at club Snitch on its "Industry Night" and played there the first Monday of every month. There, they played to their largest crowds to date and tightened their sound and live show. Although pleased with their progress, the band members felt they needed to add one more ingredient to their sound. In the summer of 2008, the band met Roger Roberts. His experience playing guitar in a death metal band brought a sinister, driving vibe adding a dimension to the music that none of them had foreseen. Since then, the band has recorded a new demo, opened for the internationally respected DnB act Evol Intent, and further established itself in the NYC rock and dance scenes.
