In the summer of 1977 I received my usual copy of National Geographic World and was amazed when I found it included a pinhole camera that I could make myself. My brother at that point had been shooting for years. Being 15 years older than myself, I looked up to him and this amazing piece of cardboard and black electrical tape gave me a chance to show him what I could do. Although my images were less than gallery worthy, the experience changed the way I saw the world forever. Even before that, I can remember sneaking down to my grandma's basement to his darkroom and being intoxicated by the smell of fixer. I knew this was a world I needed to be a part of.
