FIRST EVER AFRO-CARIBBEAN RADIO STATION IN NOTTINGHAM.
A new community station for Nottingham will start broadcasting in 17th January this year.Kemet Radio (Knowledge Education Music Entertainment and Technology) will be the City’s first to target the Afro-Caribbean community and is contactable as of now through
[email protected] .Its sister station in Birmingham has been operating for 10 years and is now seen as one of the major vehicles for information campaigns directed at the black community in the city.KEMET radio will address some of the current issues faced by Nottingham’s inner City, including health, and is being backed by its potential rival – BBC Radio Nottingham! A partnership has already formed between the two stations with BBC staff giving training and advice to the new station.It will broadcast 24/7 on 97.5FM and ONLINE also with a mix of music, news, local discussion and phone-ins. Broadcast will also be available over the internet and a magazine is also planned. A series of road shows over the coming weeks will take place to help promote the station before it goes on air.
