About Me
Cameron began studying drums in the early 1990's with renowned Australian musician Mark Bowden.. Whilst undertaking an Engineering degree at the University of New South Wales between 1996 and 1999, he was involved in a number of Sydney University Revues and bands. Cameron completed the Associate Diploma in Jazz studies at the Sydney Conservatorium of Music in 2001, where he studied and performed with local jazz musicians Craig Scott, Paul MacNamara, Gordon Rytmeister, Judy Bailey and Dave Goodman.
Over the past decade Cameron has developed a thorough knowledge of jazz, funk, pop, latin, and other world grooves through concentrated study, live performance and session work with various artists and bands, including: Linocut, Jazz Connection, The Sydney University Big Band, Azucar, Naked Without My Cello, Tufa, Shaft, Velvet Lounge, Carbon 7, Chank, Papa Groove, Nick Jefferies, Jane Irving, Dave Smith, Jo Fabro, Carrie Lakin, Sarah J Hyland, Cavan Te, Evelyn Duprai, and the Chuck Yates Trio.
During 2003, Cameron was the drummer for the Logie winning ABC comedy program - CNNNN. He was also a semi-finalist in the 2004 National Jazz Awards. Whilst overseas in 2005, he studied with Clarence Penn and Tom Rainey.
Cameron is currently a member of the Trinity Apex Trio ,Matt Baker Trio and the â€Band of the Giants†– the resident band of the Cellar Door Sessions Every Thursday at Cherrijam, Double Bay.
