Cindy Yang Xu

Cindy Xu started her piano training at the age of 4, studying under the most well known female Chinese pianist HuiQiao Bao at age of 6, and became a student of Mr.Zhong Xu, the international Chinese pianist at age of 9. She made her solo debut at the prestigious Fountainebleau International Music Festival in France at age of 11 and won the unanimous applause of the French audience during her recital there. In 2004, she participated in the "Dandelion Cup" Select Chinese National Young Artist Competition and won the gold medal in the advanced teenage group. In January of 2005, she won first prize in the "SANDNER Cup" Piano Competition that was hosted at the Shanghai Conservatory of Music and sponsored by the German instruments maker SANDNER Company. In Summer of 2005, she was the youngest pianist to participate in the "Young Artist" program sponsored by both the "Cliburn Piano Institute and Van Cliburn Foundation, In 2006,she received a piano scholarship through the Idyllwild foundation of California to study piano performance at the Idyllwild Arts Academy Later that year, she moved to Dallas and studied piano with pianist Adam Golka. In Nov. 2007, she won the Gold metal in Chopin Youth International Piano Competition in Houston. In Feb.2008, she won 2nd Prize in the Dallas Symphonic Festival Piano Concerto Competition held at SMU and sponsored by Dallas Music Teachers Association.
