About Me

Born April 5th 1979 in Pula, Croatia. After years of pounding over pots and pans manages to get hold of his first drumset between the age of 13 and 14 Starting to take his place in the local music scene. In 1994 he joins a group of friends co-founding the thrash-metal band Dusty Miller which will become one of the most important band in the regional alternative scene, winning several awards for most perspective-newcomer band. Up until 1997 he plays in several projects as well as performing in the national theater evermore leaning toward more creative music, finally falling under the influence of Jazz music.-----In June 1999 he enrolls at the Jazz department of the University for Music and Dramatic Arts in Graz, Austria. In the course of his studies he is mentored on the instrument by acclaimed performers/teachers: ALEX DEUTCH, MANFRED JOSEL and HOWARD T. CURTIS-----Takes part at master classes by Billy Hart; John Abercrombie; Bill Elgart; Joe LaBarbera; John Hollenback; Jerry Bergonzy…-----In 2006 he concludes his studies with a Master Degree in performance. During the years of his studies he played with a vast array of musicians and bands: 2000 joins the alternative rock bend SHAIMA (Italy) / 2001 co-founds the experimental bass & drum duo MANIG along with Marko Grbac / The same year he becomes a member of the ADAM KLEMM QUARTETT / 2001 collaborates as a performer with the Austrian National Theater-Schauspiel Haus, Graz / Performs with the UNI-t theatrical group, Graz / In 2003 joins Ethnic-Jazz-Rock band EAST RODEO which is to become a highly acclaimed act in the circuit of underground/psychedelic/experimental fusion scene in Italy / Performs with Slovenian singer ALEKSANDRA TEHOVNIK in her Ethnic-Jazz quartet / Performs steadily with Croatian Jazz guitar virtuoso DARKO"CHARLIE"JURKOVIC / Member of the modern jazz trio TRIAD with Rok Lopatic & Matej Hotko.-----After graduation, Marco becomes active in a Pop oriented setting as well taking part at various projects and groups performing live as well as doing recording sessions & studio work in Italy, Austria, Slovenia, Croatia, Serbia.-----Some of the bands/artists he works with from 2006 up to this day are: French pop-funk singer MIRO, with whom he records his third release and performs live in France and Switzerland / Italian Pop-Rock-singer JiANDRI. Touring extensively throughout Italy / Serbian alternative-blues-trip hop band GORIBOR. Live performances as well as recording their 2007 release “Goribor” / Performs with indie-rock singer-pianist MIONA / Italian experimental-punk-jazz trio 48th ROOSTER PACK / Member of the JINO TOUCHE band. Acclaimed bass player from Africa now based in Italy, performing live and recording his upcoming debut release in 2009 / Guest-artist with Belgrade based act DVOJAC BEZ KORMILARA with Dusan Petrovic on reeds and Boris Mladenovic on Electronics (other guest artists were Bugge Weseltoff, Lauren De Wilde…) performing as support act for Pharaoh Sanders / Plays with acclaimed Croatian Hip hop-Metal band POPEYE, Supporting Sepultuta,’s show in Zagreb, 2009.-----Along with performances/collaborations with: ROY PACI (Manu Chao; Mike Patton; NY Ska Jazz Ensemble; Jovanotti; Trilok - Gurtu…) / JESSICA LOURIE (Bill Frisell; Indigo Girls; MMW; Wayne Horwitz; Dj Logic…) / EWALD OBERLEITNER (Albert Mangelsdorff,; Slide Hampton; Paul Bley; John Surman...) / HENRY RADANOVIC / DANILO GALLO (Marc Ribot, Chris Speed, Enzo Favata....) / GIORGIO PACORIG (Elisa, Cuong Vu, Mickey Finn...) / MILES GRIFFITH (Max Roach; Reggie Workman; T.S.
