About Me

THE VILLAGE IDIOT-PREVIEW BY CHRISTY CASH:::"Green Shack is the type of band that brings their audience together as a community of friends [...] they celebrate the goodness of music and the friendships that are made along the way [...] Add the harmony of interchanging vocals, steady rhythmic bass lines, a touch of hip-hop, a dash of reggae, and a bit of southern twang, and there you have it."

Meeting in late 2004, Matt Eberle, Griggs Hutaff, and Seth Gaines began practicing in a green shack behind Seth’s house. Practicing only the songs that Griggs and Matt had put together on their own, the trio set out to play their first gig for hundreds of college students. With a great response, they knew they had something special. The only next step they could take was to find a bass player that could match their sound. The three posted up flyers around the nearby UNCW and Cape Fear Community College campuses and the first and only response was that of Aaron Hansen. With a bass in one hand and a case of beer in the other he fit right in with the band. The core of Green Shack was set and they began creating music together. For almost a year and a half Green Shack played shows in Wilmington, Raleigh, and across the Carolina coast until the fifth member of the band, almost if by fate discovered us. After seeing Green Shack at Lucky’s Pub, Sean Nelson has continued to both pull and push the band to further explore the possibilities in musical conversation. After over 2 years of playing together they have expanded their set to over 30 originals and many different ‘original‘ covers. There is one thing that all the members of Green Shack strive to accomplish and that’s their own style while still being able to captivate their audience with a sound that anyone can enjoy.
Although the band was easily formed it will be very difficult to break. The soul of Green Shack is the combined ambition of a group of musicians who will do anything to reach their goals and the goal is simple: Good music and Good times.
As most of you know the best part of creating music is meeting people. So please feel free to message us and introduce yourself so we can know you by name.
