LISTEN TO NEW LIL GOONIE SONGS ON THE PLAYLIST
While adding to the long list of rappers boasting "Lil" in their monikers, Lil Goonie weighs in heavier than fellow rap contenders when it comes to his "confidence, energy, and lyrical content." Tried and tested – but not broken by the harsh reality of street life in Inglewood a.k.a. "Rockcity," 19-year old Lil Goonie oozes the spirit of hope and promise of his beloved stomping grounds. "My swag…style of flow and country slang…will represent Nashville," he asserts in his uniquely measured southern drawl. "I'm here to fill a void that I know is there."
Inspired at the age of 12 by an older cousin, Lil Goonie strived to be the best at what he was born to do - rhyme and entertain. At the age of 15, Lil Goonie was approached by the production team, 3 Kingz Music Group, who was interested in developing the young rapper into a star. Lil Goonie's first single "Girlz Gone Wild" is a brief introduction into the experiences of a young man trying to find his way in the world. Lil Goonie honed his writing skills for years on the Eastside of Nashville. He was influenced by such artists as Tupac for his passion to make music, his flow, and his credibility and especially Master P for being the first artist to really make noise from the south.
In 2007, Lil Goonie captured the attention of Eric "Coptic" Matlock and Anthony Hubbard of Brooklyn Bridge Entertainment and manager. Subsequently flown to New York to do a showcase for Jive/Zomba Records, President of Urban Music, Mark Pitts. Mr. Pitts, who is the former manager of the Notorious B.I.G., Faith Evans and Nas, and is the A&R for Usher, Ciara and Chris Brown, was so impressed by Lil Goonie that he signed him to his label imprint, Bystorm Entertainment, through Battery/Jive Records.
One meeting and immediately you know that there's something special about Lil Goonie. Two meetings and it's apparent he is a star.
