VJ LEO

In 2001, when Leonardo Schenkel started to work as a VJ, VJing was unknown to the great public in Brazil. Lover of electronic dance music, he imagined how it would be cool to show his friends in a party what he was researching at home. Leo refined his work with research and experience of increasing number of parties and being in contact with other VJs . Auto-denominated as an "Artistic Hacker", he keeps a continuous research about video content, equipments, software and stage design.
In 2005 he was selected between thousands of candidates in major Brazilian cities to take part in a 8-days-immersive workshop with other talents for the acclaimed multimedia festival Motomix, sponsored by Motorola. After this work, he was responsible for some of the live images of the shows in Sao Paulo and his home city Porto Alegre. By the end of the same year his talent caught attention of one of the best DJs in Brazil, Fabricio Peçanha, who hired Leo to make a special live video set for his performance at the Brazilian edition of Creamfields.
As Leo..s work evolved, the local scene became more aware of his talent. In late 2007 he joined the Life is a Loop Show, taken by the press and awards as "The best electronic music show of Brazil", formed by two DJs, Fabricio Peçanha and Leozinho and one drummer, Rodrigo Paciornik.
In 2008 he was elected by the electronic music community of his State as the best VJ for the second year in a row. The international recognition came with the Time Warp 2008 VJ Ward, TDK Time Warp started in 1994 and its reference in EDM culture. Leo..s work was selected by a jury based on a 30 minute mix (about 13 songs).
After the 08'summer he decided to create his own show, going deeper on the Audio-Visual experience. He than pairs-up with DJ Dennis Rocha and in September 08 the MIND show debuts. Since this first gig, MIND is the main attraction at local parties.
Nowadays Leo is using the skills and experience of seven years of VJing to produce videoclips to the best eletronic music producers. Names such as Dusty Kid and Glenn Morrison had tracks illustrated by his visual creativity.

Em 2001, quando Leonardo Schenkel começou seu trabalho como VJ, a atividade era desconhecida pelo grande público. Amante da música eletrônica, ele imaginou como seria legal mostrar a seus amigos em uma festa o que ele estava pesquisando em casa. Com muita pesquisa, contato com outros VJs e festa após festa, Leo foi aprimorando seu trabalho. Auto-denominado hacker artístico, Leo segue um contínuo trabalho de pesquisa sobre conteúdo, equipamentos softwares e design de palco.
Ele foi selecionado entre milhares de candidatos a participar de um workshop intensivo de oito dias do aclamado festival multimídia Motomix, patrocinado pela Motorola, em 2005. Ele foi responsável por parte projeções ao vivo nos shows de São Paulo e Porto Alegre do projeto. No final do mesmo ano, recebeu o convite de Fabrício Peçanha, um dos melhores DJ do Brasil, para fazer um set especial de vídeo para sua participação na edição brasileira do Creamfields, realizado em Curitiba.
Conforme o trabalho do Leo evoluiu, a cena local ficou mais atenta a seu talento. No final de 2007, ele entrou para a produção do show Life is a Loop, considerado o melhor show de música eletrônica do Brasil, pela Cool Magazine, revista especializada em música eletrônica. O espetáculo conta com dois DJs, Fabricio Peçanha e Leozinho, e um percussionista, Rodrigo Paciornik.
Em seu currículo, estão incontáveis apresentações em festas de música eletrônica no Rio Grande do Sul (Deep Dish, Fulltronic, Motomix), Santa Catarina (Clubs El Divino, Kiwi, Warung). São Paulo (CoolMag Awards, Motomix), Londres (Festa Go Hard or Go Home) e Amsterdã (Club Studio80), além de uma participação especial no Razz Matazz, de Barcelona. Eleito em votação do site Poabeat! Melhor VJ em 2006, fez também clipes de música, como o Factor One, do Mozart M. Riggi, The Cat, do Dusty Kid, e Cosmic Flight, do Glenn Morrison.
