I am here for Friends and Networking

About Me

Also known as Knikki, Knikster, Jake, Nikki and The Pirate Queen!
My life has been a series of wild adventures and tall tales - until I moved to Charlotte and got a safe, stable, corporate job. Now I'm trying desperately to find the balance between financial responsibility and my carefree and untameable heart. Sometimes I get it right - but usually I don't. At least it provides interesting fodder for my writing. Which reminds me - READ MY BLOG!
I am planning on relocating to Ireland next year and am always looking for friends to correspond with - quite a big step, definitely a sought after adventure!
What's Yer Inner Pirate? You are The Cap'n!
Some men and women are born great, some achieve greatness and some slit the throats of any scalawag who stands between them and unlimited power. You never met a man - or woman - you couldn't eviscerate. You are the definitive Man of Action, the CEO of the Seven Seas, Lee Iacocca in a blousy shirt and drawstring-fly pants. You’re mission-oriented, and if anyone gets in the way, that’s his problem, now isn’t? Your buckle was swashed long ago and you have never been so sure of anything as your ability to bend everyone to your will. You will call anyone out and cut off his head if he shows any sign of taking you on or backing down. If one of your lieutenants shows an overly developed sense of ambition he may find more suitable accommodations in Davy Jones' locker. That is, of course, IF you notice him. You tend to be self absorbed - a weakness that may keep you from seeing enemies where they are and imagining them where they are not.

My Interests

I'd like to meet:

Anyone who speaks Bulgarian. I can't understand a word of it, but I'm mesmerized by the language. Then again, I'm partial to anyone who is bi-lingual and particularly those who will speak German with me. The conversations are very dull, since I'm not very good at it - but I love the practice!

The Greatest Christmas Present Ever - Christmas 2005

We all sat around the fireplace opening presents one-by-one - the way we've done it since we were kids, and since it was the first time my siblings and I were altogether in many years it certainly see...

Discovering Strength in the Strangest of Places

Life is funny - although sometimes it's more of a dark humor than anything else.  What you do when life hands you lemons is the stuff of quipped legend - you make lemonade, you stuff them in...

Getting to Know the Neighbors.....(sort of)

It's been a year and a half that I've been mowing and vaccuuming two yards, and I have to admit - I pretty much hate it.  Over the course of time, I've been fortunate to meet the neighbors at bot...

Fun, Family, Fireworks and oh yeah, the Emergency Room

Some things never change - you know when the Jacobsmeyers get together, Grandma is likely going to fall, Dad is going to lose his temper at least once, Rowan is going to climb into the pool whenever a...

Coping with Loss Without Food

It's been a rough day, and the glorious monthly bonus of being a female is NOT helping my already overzealous emotions.  One of my dearest friends moved away a few months ago and I've been truly...

Today there was joy

Three day weekends are always nice - although I didn't have anything exciting planned to escape the chaotic and oft-dreaded "race weekend" here in Charlotte, the bonus day to get things done was actua...
