About Me


Spencer Topel is a doctoral candidate at Cornell University. Mr. Topel has had performances by the Oregon Symphony, Juilliard Symphony, Onyx Ensemble, the Contempartensemble of Firenze, and by soloists Inbal Segev, Sumire Kudo, Rachel and Jason Calloway, Christopher Guzman, and Steve Beck. Spencer Topel holds two Degrees from the Juilliard School, and has received awards from BMI, ASCAP, the NFAA, a Diploma of Merit from Accademia Musicale Chigiana, Juilliard’s Palmer Dixon Prize for best composition, Richard Rodgers Fellowship, and a Pia Gilbert Fellowship. Mentors have included Christopher Rouse, Steven Stucky, Roberto Sierra, and Samuel Adler.
This past summer Mr. Topel led a tour along side Eugene Birman to Turkey with a group of musicians selected from around the world with the aim of officially launching Principle Music and New Paths/New Music as an international arts organization.  In addition to six concerts in five major cities, a documentary of the even is in production. Following the tour, he attended the Aspen Music Festival Master Class led by Christopher Rouse and Anders Hillborg.
