Pezent Waters is a Vocalist/Lyricist/Emcee with a twist of Hip Hop, rock, punk, and experimental funk. There is an origin behind the name Pezent Waters. Pez was a BBoy name that a local BBoy from BMW Crew gave him (Birmingham, AL). Over the years, Pez had plentiful interactions with the streets and scattered destitution; he felt like a modern day “peasant”. Mixing the style of his alias at the time, Entrakit, he came up with the name Pezent. He wasn’t quite finished and needed more. His liking of writing presented by Roger Waters (Pink Floyd member) had helped with this and that is where Waters came about. Also, Pezent Waters believes water is magnificent, “Be like water” Bruce Lee once said.
Pezent Waters is currently in the studio putting the finishing touches on his 2008 summer release, “Unseen Scenery”, his debut album. Majority produced by Vector Sigma whom has worked with the likes of Lauryn Hill, Rhymefest, All Natural, Qwel, and many others. Pezent is also currently collaborating with successful artists on a few side projects (TBA). As for shows, he performs locally in Chicago, IL as well as traveling nationwide. While performing solo acts he also hits the stage with Chicago’s very own F.E.W., an artist collective that captivates Hip Hop culture by creating stories with music and dance. Pezent is an original member, along side DJ Man-O-Wax, DJ Arkitek, D-Nick Da Microphone Misfit, Bravemonk, and Super Inlight.

This up and coming artist has blessed the stage and opened for artists like Slick Rick, All Natural, Zion I, Crucial Conflict, One Belo, Akbar, Immortal Technique, Brother Ali and many others. On the side Pezent is always working on spontaneous creation and allowing the music to be free. He says “I am Hip Hop, people like to genre-lize music; I just do me and what I feel. You can’t put Hip Hop in a box, it’s a culture. Musically my influences include and embody the legendary Afrika Bambata, KRS One, to Radiohead and The Mars Volta. I just love music and being free with it.”
Pezent has been through masses of music, all starting when he was born on a military base in NC then traveled lots and settled in Birmingham, AL where he spent most his life. He then made his way to Chicago, IL in 2002, and now pursues his career in the “Windy City”. Doors opening left and right, he will continue to live the love of music.
