About Me

Some people are destined to excel and express themselves through their art, a gift evident right from the start. George Butts envisioned his music career as a small boy in rural Georgia when he made a saxophone out of a wire coat hanger, thus beginning a life-long love affair with the instrument and music. This destiny has taken him from those grass root beginnings to concert stages across the country and around the world.

George Butts has toured and collaborated with many top recording artists and performers of our time, including James Brown, Willie Bobo, Sam Cook, The Drifters, Solomon Burke and Harold Melvin and the Blue Notes. George currently performs at the Ritz Carlton Hotels nationally and internationally, in addition to Las Vegas resorts and casinos and special concerts throughout the year. His warm, soulful saxophone and unique vocal style have captured the attention and hearts of audiences wherever he performs. He has the ability to convey the essence of his music openly through his genuine spirit and outgoing personality.

George’s newly released CD “GEORGIE” is a mixture of R & B/Jazz in his own soulful style and flavor. “GEORGIE” showcases his exceptional talents as saxophonist and vocalist, highlighting his unique interpretation of classic standards such as “Good Morning Heartache,” “Can’t Get Enough of Your Love,” “Papa Was a Rolling Stone,” and “Until You Come Back to Me.” Earlier CD releases “BREAKIN’ OUT THE PAST,” “FRESH,” “SWEET SPOT,” and “I LOVE YOU SO MUCH,” also feature George’s original music and irresistible style.

George is a supporter of the American Macular Degeneration Foundation, which promotes awareness and funds research for this incurable disease. Macular degeneration is a leading cause of blindness affecting more than 10 million Americans, reaching near epidemic proportions. Unfortunately the specific factors that cause macular degeneration are not conclusively known and research into this little-understood disease is limited by insufficient funding.
George has had macular degeneration for over ten years, and although his vision may be impaired, his vibrant spirit and music goes on. A portion of the proceeds from the sale of “GEORGIE” will be donated to the American Macular Degeneration Foundation.
