Swami Kailashananda , also known as Yogi Gupta, was one of thevery first Yoga Masters to bring Hatha Yoga to America. In1954, he was invited to speak at a Health Convention inChicago, and thereafter he began teaching in the U.S.Born in Kanpur in Northern India, he practiced law beforerenouncing all worldly ties and being ordained as a monk inBenares (in the Holy Order of Sanyasa) as SwamiKailashananda. He practiced yoga in the Himalaya Mountainsuntil mastering 9 forms of Yoga; and he was an Acharya of theYoga Vedanta Forest University.In 1952, he established the Kailashananda Mission Trust(including the Kailashananda Nature Cure Centre), inRishikesh, India, which has been serving humanitycontinuously since that time.

As an honored representative of DMY we are in the position of preserving a rich tradition of yoga philosophy as taught by Dharma and his lineage of gurus. The techniques and the knowledge have been imparted and or initiated unto us by the grace and love of the Guru (teacher).
Our teachers are those that are free from the distractions and delusions of name, fame, and ego in the pure teachings of Sri Dharma’s work . It is our purpose as disciples and teachers to help progress mankind thru this knowledge that Dharma has blessed us with.
Yamas and Niyamas. This is a principle teaching of Dharma Mittra Yoga. Without the observance of the ethical rules, yamas and niyamas, there is no success in yoga. A student will not reach liberation thru asanas alone. Recall that observing a vegetarian diet as a means to avoid participation in cruelty is an instrumental statement that is made by Dharma usually at the end of his classes.
Offering of the Actions. This is another important instruction from Dharma Mittra . All the poses should be an offering to the Lord, without any expectation to results. Thinking of God during the asana practice is better than meditation.. Remember these powerful instructions.
The Asanas, are a means of purifying the physical body in order to become more calm and be able to be still. Then we will be able to meditate and become closer to our source. Then we can move away from constant worldliness and move towards Godliness in word, deed and actions.
Sri Dharma only uses the Asanas for this means.
