In Electro and Techno culture, San Diego is not considered a center of club culture. However if you were to ask Poway/Rancho Bernardo Heights-based producers Tom Norris and Rose Herndier, known simply to the world as RUNVS, their suburban California neighborhood is about to be embossed in the annals of Electro with their style of catchy, highly danceable rhythms.
RUNVS has become quite a hit over the internet mainstream, being facilitated to DJs around the world, resulting in hundreds of plays at clubs all over Europe and America.
Both of San Diego residence for nearly half a decade, RUNVS credits their musical abilities and career to making silly but recognizable dance music in the predominantly pretentious and banal French and Detroit Electro scenes. Their first foray into music came about with the advent of Eiffel 65 back in 1999, where through influence from Tom's cousin, music production became of prime interest with help from computer software and synthesizers.
Though only two tracks complete, RUNVS represents artistic integrity that, although with a joking and nonchalant undertone, produces an outstanding effect. At 16 and 17 years of age, there is a lot more coming.
