Supahype has been behind the mic long enough to earn the S on his chest, so it is only natural for this dj/ vj/ artiste/ producer/ songwriter to own his own label and begin to produce the younger talent. Born August 7th, 1979, his multifaceted career began 1994 as a disc jockey for an uptown sound system called PowerPlay Disco. In 1997 he became a member of Essence Disco, developed his talent as a mic man and discjockey and began to freelance his skill under the name DJ Superman. In late 2000 or early 2001 he became a member of the infamous Code Red Disco and played alongside the likes of DJ Rush and Master Lee whom he states set the platform for his career as SupaHype. It was during this time that the opportunity to become an RETV VJ arose and as a result the name SupaHype catapulted into almost every household in Jamaica. His career as an artiste began with the notorious tune “Welcome to Norbrook†which hit the charts in late 2005. A comical parody of Junior Gong’s hit ‘Welcome to Jamrockâ€, earned him the right to be labeled an International Artiste with airplay in Kingston, Miami, London and Japan. Immediately afterwards he released another parody, this time of Baby Cham’s fabulous “Ghetto Story†which pushed his career even further. He acknowledges DJ Karim and DJ Liquid for taking his talent seriously. As a young producer, he began working with artistes such as Busy Signal, Ice Cold, Flava Unit and Colly C. In 2006 Supahype produced and released his first riddim titled SMASH which tore up the charts with hits such as Tony Matterhorn’ s “Dutty Wineâ€, Busy Signal’s “Lu Lu Lu†and T.O.K’s “Haters. Under the label Hyperactive Entertainment, he began to produce other tracks such as Cool Runnings, Supernatural, Hypertension and Paradise. His music video for the song “Uptown Driver†has begun to receive airplay and he has about three other videos that will be released shortly.Working as Hyperactive Entertainment, Supahype has undertaken the development of the careers of other young and talented artistes in the industry such as Ice Cold, Double K, Clara and Camille (who hails from Miami). He continues to host REVIEW, the number one show for three consecutive years on RETV
