About Me

I love writing, singing and performing. Craig Riley is my comrade on stage. What a great man, beautiful person and wonderful singer and player.Dave Matheson has been producing my music. What a creative and talented wonder he is.I've enjoyed some great experiences with music. I got to work with Bruce Cockburn's producer in the 70's, Eugene Martynec who won the Juno for best producer of "Dancing in the Dragon's Jaws". What a great guy who really taught me about structuring songs... something I was sort of slow to learn on my own.I've played Philadelphia Folk Fest, Hillside Festival, Spadina Festival and many many clubs in Toronto and southern Ontario.I care a lot about Africa and HIV/AIDS. I've been organizing a benefit concert called "Voices for Africa". You can hear the theme song on my site here. The song tells of a grandmother who must care for her grandchildren who's parents have died of AIDS.Voices for Africa is a choir concert event with adult singer-songwriters mixed in with elementary school choirs... Its been amazing for sure; we've raised a lot of awareness in Newmarket. In four years, we have raised $82 000 for the Stephen Lewis Foundation and we were lucky enough to have him speak at our event last year. What a man! Hey, this year we will likely hit $100 000 for our total donations over 5 years. Yahoo!!!Its been a busy few years on this road. I'm finishing a new album with Dave Matheson... you can hear some of the tracks here. I'm putting some real energy back into my own music now, as Voices for Africa seems to be rolling.I'm proud of what is here and I hope you enjoy the tunes. Many have been written in as far away places as Myanmar, Antigua Nepal, New Zealand, Aus. I do love this earth and all of its cultures and landscapes. The "beauty keeps shaking me".Be well in everyway.jamie
