I am a full time martial arts instructor in Wixom, Michigan, USA. As a martial arts practitioner for the past 37 years I have learned that; no matter how much you learn and know, there is always more to add. I enjoy training with those who are serious about their training and their art. Everyone brings something of value to the table.Over my martial history I have achieved:
7th Degree Black Belt in a Korean system called Tang Soo Do,
1st Degree Black Belt in a Okinawan system called Isshinryu, and
1st Degree Black Belt in a Japanese system called Hakko-Ryu Ju-Jutsu.I have also trained extensively in:
a Japanese system called Shotokan,
an Okinawan system called Motobu-Ha Shito-Ryu, and
a Chinese system called Wing Chun.
(In these systems I do not hold any rank).I have come to understand that there is no ONE system that has all of the answers. Each system has its own unique strengths and weaknesses. It is good to learn any system that is made available (as long as the instructor has a deep understanding of the systems principles and concepts). Take from each system what works well and discard the rest.If you want to learn joint locks, don’t go to a Korean or Japanese Karate teacher. Aiki-Ju-Jutsu systems such as Aikido and Ju-Jutsu specialize in the science of joint locking techniques; Find a good Aiki-Ju-Jutsu instructor. If you want to learn how to kick and punch, don’t go to an Aiki-Ju-Jutsu teacher, find a good Karate instructor. If you want to learn about Grappling, find a good Brazilian Ju-Jutsu instructor, not a teacher that specializes in Kicking and punching from the standing position…In my school we partner with those who specialize in a specific system and let them teach what they are best at. This gives our students the best training in each area of need.If a student trains in only one system, they may become excellent in that ONE system, but when confronted with an opponent with a wider scope of knowledge they will be at a disadvantage. It is our goal to prepare our students for anything that they are confronted with. For more information you can write to me at:
