Fuzz and Mac

About Me

Fuzz and Mac, from North Carolina, are a unique pair. Fuzz Jaxx, originally from Augusta, GA, is a gifted hip-hop artist who is rooted in soul, funk, and 80s rock. His partner, McClain Sullivan, is from the other side of the country, and is grounded in Seattle alt-rock, jazz, and even some trip hop. Her unusual vocal stylings range from sultry jazz to quirky punkish rock—and everything in between. The pair first met in 2001 and were part of a jazz infused hip-hop group called ORGANIX. They went their separate ways in 2005, returning occasionally to record together on projects. Then in 2007, they realized that what they could produce together as a duo was unique and they recorded an EP called Together Again. They have certainly discovered each other’s musical strengths and have crafted an unusual blend of two very different genres.- SKOPE MAGAZINE
They have recently been featured on K2 Skis film "SKEEZE" and Burton Snowboards "It's always snowing somewhere".

"Fuzz Jackson and McClain Sullivan came together as the quintessential ebony and ivory coupling, but have twisted the idea to create a beautiful pairing of what happens when Soul falls in love with Hip-Hop."
- EvolutionOfMedia.com | May 2007 -
"Together Again is a wonderful combination of soul, love, attitude and harmony."

It’s almost as though fate would play a part in the lives of Fuzz Jaxxon and McClain Sullivan, as their latest collaboration, Fuzz & Mac, turns them full circle with their dreams.
Fuzz Jax, who’s originally from Augusta, GA and McClain Sullivan, a Seattle, WA native, truly seem like an impractical pair. He's primary interests consisted of hip-hop, soul, funk, 80's rock and skateboarding; she took up humming before she could talk and finds most of her inspiration from folk, jazz, trip hop and alternative rock. In 1997, Fuzz moved to Wilmington, NC with good friend & musical partner Calico and two years later, Mac left for NYC's New School University for Jazz and Contemporary Music studies.
Yet it was only a matter of time before their paths inevitably crossed. Taking a break from the city, McClain choose to move to more of a coastal lifestyle, relocating to Wilmington in 2001; about this same time Fuzz Jax began pulling together the Port City based jazz fused hip-hop band, ORGANIX. This is where it all began. In the course of the four years the band was around, ORGANIX created a strong following that rocked to numerous sold out audiences from DC to Atlanta. After being voted "Best Band in Wilmington 2005", several members aspired for big city vision, and half of the band, including McClain, moved to NYC. Subsequently, this forged the band break up.
Although separated by more than 600 miles, Fuzz & Mac maintained a close relationship and continued to record with each other on various projects, which is where destiny stepped in again. Early February 2007, McClain returned to the port to work on and finalize an EP idea she and Fuzz had been planning. During this visit, Fuzz Jax was invited to open for the Roots at Myrtle Beach, SC's House of Blues. This would create the perfect opportunity to introduce the world to Fuzz & Mac, and just like old times with the ORGANIX, they once again performed for a sold out audience, which was left spellbound.
The way that Fuzz & Mac bring out the best in each other would awaken any music lover. Their first release in March 2007, the appropriately titled EP "Together Again", will fill all your musical senses with a well crafted sound of jazz meets hip-hop meets down tempo. Fuzz, the strong voiced emcee, provides introspective lyrics as Mac seals the deal with her soulful vocals and sultry edge; and also features some of Wilmington's up and coming producers The Distinguished Gents and longtime friend, Calico.
So, maybe its not predestination that joins Fuzz & Mac, but whatever it is that creates this magic, it will leave a lasting impression on all listeners world wide.
