Biodro Records to najbardziej znana trójmiejska wytwórnia plytowa. Zalozona na poczatku 1998 roku przez Andrzeja Maroszka, Darka Dikti i Tymona Tymanskiego, zainaugurowala dzialalnosc wydaniem glosnej plyty KUR pt. "P.O.L.O.V.I.R.U.S." (sprzedanej w ilosci ponad 25 tys. egzemplarzy). Nastepna produkcja Biodra byl debiutancki album sopockiej grupy Scianka pt. "Statek Kosmiczny - Scianka" (ponad 5 tys. sprzedanych plyt). W 1999 roku za "P.O.L.O.V.I.R.U.S.a" zespól KURY otrzymal az szesc nominacji do Fryderyków, z których ostatecznie otrzymal nagrode w kategorii "Muzyka Alternatywna".
Do czerwca roku 2001 Biodro wydalo m.in. debiutanckie plyty zespolów Pogodno i Kobiety, ostatnia plyte Milosci (studyjne nagrania z Lesterem Bowie z roku 1998), album duetu Swietlicki/Trzaska, plyte grupy Czan (muzycznej kontynuacji zespolu Tymon i Trupy), kasete ulicznego artysty Pana Witka, singiel efemerycznej grupy Poganie oraz maksisingiel i ostatnia plyte supergrupy Kury. Klopoty finansowe, spowodowane zapascia na krajowym rynku sprzedazy plyt, spowodowaly kilkuletnia przerwe w wydawniczej aktywnosci Biodra. W tym czasie dalej dzialalo studio firmy Biodro Records, w którym nagraly swoje albumy nowe grupy Tymanskiego - Tymon & The Transistors oraz Tymanski Yass Ensemble.
Po pieciu latach muzycznej hibernacji Biodro powrócilo w starym, dobrym stylu. Nowymi produkcjami trójmiejskiego wydawnictwa sa albumy oleckiego barda Marka Galazki z zespolem oraz Romka Puchowskiego, tczewskiego bluesmana, lidera alternatywnej formacji Von Zeit. Za muzyczna produkcje plyt Biodra odpowiedzialny jest tandem Piotr Pawlak/Tymon Tymanski. Lada moment mozna spodziewac sie nowych publikacji Biodra w sklepach (dystrybucje prowadzi warszawska Fonografika) i w sprzedazy online (za posrednictwem firmy Serpent). Do czerwca 2007 roku nakladem Biodra wyjda plyty debiutantów, stolecznego projektu Wiolonczele z Warszawy, slaskiej formacji Sensorry i charyzmatycznego solisty Bajzla oraz zapowiadane albumy Transistorsów, Tymanski Yass Ensemble i Milosci z Lesterem Bowie (koncertowe "Nobody's White").
The Biodro Records is one of the most well known Polish indie labels. Founded in 1998 in Gdansk by Tymon Tymanski (Polish alternative scene’s major figure) and his two partners, Andrzej Maroszek and Darek Dikti, it was designed to deal with all sorts of „off-style“ records, be it alt jazz, yass or avant-rock crossovers - any interesting albums from various artists, who can’t ascribe themselves to a definitive style. Their debut production was KURY’s „P.O.L.O.V.I.R.U.S.“, the record put out in March of 1998, which sold over 25 000 copies. „P.O.L.O.V.I.R.U.S.“, the avant-rock band’s biting satire on Polish pretentious and plagiarist pop music, turned out to be one of the most important albums of the decade. The second record produced by the Gdansk-based label was SCIANKA’s „Scianka The Spaceship“, another intriguing debut from a Sopot band, which (alonside with Lech Janerka, Voo Voo, Kazik, Homo Twist, Kury and Pogodno) was to become one of the Polish most influential alternative collectives.Until June, 2001, Biodro managed to put out thirteen catalogue items. The most notorious among them were the debut albums of Pogodno and Scianka, the legendary Milosc jazz band’s last record with Lester Bowie (Milosc collaborated with the late, great American trumpet player, recording three records with Bowie out of their seven album output), Swietlicki and Trzaska duet’s album (Polish outstanding poet of the younger generation, backed up by Milosc’s former saxophonist), and last not least, supertrio KURY’s last album. The recession in the phonographic industry caused a long intermission in Biodro’s publishing activity. However, our Biodro Studios section was still active, producing album materials by Tymon & The Transistors, Tymanski Yass Ensemble and Kobiety.After a five year long hibernation, in the fall of 2006 the Biodro Records made a succesful comeback, putting out an album by the Mazurian bard Marek Galazka and his band and a solo debut from Romek Puchowski, an alternative musician and an eminent bluesman. In the beginning of 2007 Biodro published Tymon & The Transistors second LP plus Wiolonczele z Miasta debut album. In the nearest future we are planning to put out a whole collection of interesting records, among them several strong debuts (Bajzel, Sensorry, Przasniczki, and Brygada Kryzys’s and Izrael’s legendary Robert Brylewski’s solo record) and a set of long awaited re-editions (Milosc, Kury and Pogodno).Tune in and stay in touch!
