About Me

wow. durango95 on myspace. is this great?
i’m not sure if this is important to anyone but ourselves. anyway, gives me the excuse to look through a few pictures and get sentimental. and chris gets one more site on myspace he can make friends for.
this is was happened:
we got together sometime in early 1999 – back then chris was still playing in enfold and mace in the now legendary highscore. and after the breakup of our old band me and semer were desperate to get a new one together. copslayer joined on bass and we were ready to go. i think our very first show took place at our friends house in bovenden. we only had 5 songs and i punched my guitar in urtes head while playing. it was fun though.
to be honest, we weren’t quite ready for the shows with hotwatermusic and discount that followed later that year. i’m still trying to remember which songs we actually played, couldn’t have been more than seven or eight. we recorded the 7” in the spring of 2000 with the help of niko “posselovski” potthoff, who would also record everything else we did. that 7” and the following album was released on bushido rec., run by our friends seb. highscore (who also did guest vocals on one song) and matze “iron” kampmann.
i remember there was a short tour following the release of that record; us and highscore playing some shows in belgium and england. that was also the first time i met someone from scotland in person. didn’t understand one word he was saying. sorry.
the following year saw us record the first album, “destroy. fuck you” (great title, i’m still proud of it) and playing more and more shows. one of them being the fluff fest in pilsen. later that year crazy philfold joined us on bass, thomas had moved to kassel and it just didn’t work out anymore. that was a time when phil was NOT wearing fishnets and cowboyboots on stage.
a tour with strike anywhere and as friends rust followed in winter ‘01, i don’t remember too much about that one. it was cold outside. which sucks when you’re on tour.
we didn’t record anything in 2002, though we did play shows. there were a few dates with dillinger four that i remember ...
back then you could get the first hints to the reasons we eventually broke up two years later: we had to cancel a lot of shows due to various job und study-related stuff. very frustrating when you know you could do more with the band but just don’t manage to get it done.
the final album “take me away” would follow in 2003. this one got released on ...stereodrive! rec., as bushido rec. wasn’t around anymore. things were looking good bandwise. lots of shows and the album was well received. we did a really exciting tour through half of europe, playing shows in greece, macedonia, bosnia and croatia as well as in austria and of course germany. the now-denial accompanied us; i remember asche spending lots of money on beer on the ferry while calculating our speed. turns out our ferry was runnning at about 240 km/h.
2004, our last year as a band started great: we went to play a tour through southafrica! niko joined us as soundguy and we had a great time there. some shows were great, some weren’t but i was excited all the time. i couldn’t really believe we were actually driving through that country. the indian ocean! we even drove by the residence of nelson mandela! cool. i also can’t tell you how relieved i was when chris and niko didn’t get any alcohol on our flight back. i’m still convinced emirates airlines has got a black list with those two on it. a few months after we got home things weren’t so great at all: we couldn't agree at all with the direction the band should take and the amount of time everyone of us could invest. we quit.
we set up a last farewell tour together with the chimpanzees of dean dirg for october. on that tour we also got to play n..nchritz for the first time, which really made my heart bleed cause it was so much fun. our man rico 4sivits IS doing the best schnittchen (and cocktails) ever. on the end of the tour we played our very last show. 2004-10-10. baracke in muenster.
it was also the only time we ever played “filler” (with jobst m..nster on vocals) and “cop killer” (with dean dirg) onstage. the show was great. that’s it. i can’t really say i got over the end of that band really good. i still wish we could go out again and rock houses. every time i see some lame band playing i’d rather have us up there on stage and blow you away.
“these are farwaway nights and a stupid kids’ dreams. kisses and chances and my heart burns forever.”
thanks for coming.
