About Me
When a friend mentioned to Jamaican producer Mikey Bennett (producer of Maxi Priest, Shabba Ranks etc.) that he should listen to Nza, little did they both know the seed that would be planted.Although Nza had been recording in Switzerland, where she migrated to, her incredible talents would not only be put to the test and highlighted but also honed during her six month stay in Jamaica.During this period, she had the opportunity to work with the best talents there, both young and old, songwriting or backing them on their tracks. Artists such as Cherine Anderson, then at the beginning of her career, Chevelle Franklyn, Brian and Tony Gold from Shaggy’s crew, Ricky ‘ric roc’ Ducent (‘It wasn’t me’ with Shaggy), Nigel Staff, a very talented musician and leader of Ruff Kutt (the backing band for Beenie man) and Ernie Smith, one of the veterans of Jamaican music. Nza was able to perform at Ernie Smith’s 30 year celebration called ‘after 30.’Among these highlights was also the opportunity she had to appear in one of Sean Paul’s videos, ‘ladies man’, alongside Spanner Banner, another popular artist. Armed with all this experience, Nza came back to Switzerland determined to go on. She worked with Manfred Zazzi from Apart Studios in Zürich and Fred Hermann in Basel, now based in Zurich. From the collaboration in Basel came the album ‘The private project’, which got good reviews.Nza is a confident singer who proudly represents many musical influences. Her style, whilst sultry and subtle, is provocative and exciting. Like many professionals, Nza accepts many challenges and versatility is always one. Therefore, alongside her studio work, Nza also sings in the Blues band ‘Mojo Swamp’ and the Reggae formation 'Scenty'. With the latter she's currently supporting Famara; the most well-known Swiss reggae artist.Nza is as great to look at as she is to listen to and has been known to captivate audiences with a wink and a smile.
