I was born Ronald , slave name given to my father that was passed on to me. My pop who was an active member of the Black Panther Party realized during his spiritual development that for me to carry a name not of African origin would be some continuo sign of the total ignorance of our people. Thus, the name OJI was given to me two years after my birth. My name means THE GIFT in Swahili. I am continuously striving to live out my purpose in life, which I have come to realize is to uplift my people to best of my ability starting with family first.In my young adult years this realization has been a struggle for me, for I have like many of my brothers at times falling victim to this corrupt capitalist way of thinking that ultimately leads to prioritizing the successes of material gain over the success of liberation.
