About Me

..
ET SIC PER GRADUS AD IMA TENDITUR
(OFFICIAL MYSPACE)
I was born far too long ago to even mention. I have lived in war zones and London (which is kind of the same thing). I possess a crazy jumbled up accent. People think I am Australian. I am NOT, nor have I ever been to Australia. I have lived in many places through the years and perhaps along the way I have acquired, quite unintentionally, an element of every accent encountered. My voice, in point of fact, was a blank canvas awaiting some colour. It is now very colourful indeed and this even shows in my singing (for want of a better term!!). I now reside in the leafy suburbs of Chelmsford, Essex.
I used to inhabit many differing forms, all of which somehow and inexorably curved back to Gary Numan. It's very tempting, when you are young, to simply mirror your musical hero. But through change, adaptation and metamorphosis I have segued, finally, into me. Through trial, and mostly error, I have found my sound. Oh sure, I still steal, er... I mean 'borrow' from my mentors, but the result has gradually become me, David Ansara.
Kolo kolo mlýnský - Za čtyři rýnský - Kolo se nám polámalo - Mnoho škody nadělalo - Udělalo bác!
..
GARY NUMAN introduced me to the synthesizer and the bar chord. JOHN FOXX introduced me to the flanged drum machine. MARTIN GORE introduced me to the twangy guitar riff. ADE ORANGE introduced me to the sampler. WARREN CANN introduced me to the iron lung. RALF & FLORIAN introduced me to that 'heavy breathing' thing. These have been central to my sound but there are far more colourations on top. You can spot these for yourself if you have the patience.
There is no one in music that sounds truly unique. We all 'borrow' from each other. That is how trends are born. Movements are born. We all get pigeonholed eventually. We are all squeezed into some vague description of what equates to a 'style'. The only truly unique quality any of us can possess is to combine our collective influences into a new blend. This is what I have attempted to do. This is what I have become. This is... David Ansara.

Sounds Like: ''The more you listen, the more engrossed you become. It's insipid. It's arash. It's a rush. It's weirdly you and me. It's who we are. Is it legal andcan we get this on prescription?'' - GOTHIK AMOUR -''Ansara's voice hangs heavy in the mixes, enticing, sometimes uncomfortablyso, pouring into the listeners ears like an aural bath. He's unavoidable.Omnipresent. Angst-ridden and contorted. The track 'Look Into My Heart' is a twisted, flipside of a song. Ansarabeckons the listener to empathise and understand his 'love' but somehowmanages to evoke feelings of hatred and disgust. No boy band mullarky here, methinks'' - COMPUTER LOVE -''...in another moment of insanity I found myself actually enjoying his stuff.I felt defiled as if he had cunningly and somewhat deviously used my ears ashis psychotherapy session. Still... I must confess, I identified immediately. That's a bad thing for a journalist, yes?'' - MELODYFAKER -''We had to eject the CD after 20 minutes when we realised 'Sympathy' wasabout serial killing, not sex. Oh My God. Maybe it was about sex AND serial killing. This stuff is far too strange. Avoid at all costs.'' - TOURNIQUET MAGAZINE -''Ann Widdicombe (bless her cotton vest) once described Michael Howard ashaving 'something of the night about him'. Miss Widdicombe has yet to meetDavid Ansara. Mensch!'' - YIDDISH ECHO -''He cracks us up, no end.'' - CRUSTACEANS MONTHLY -''Buy his CD now, wimp!!!!'' - THE FAKE
