Big Daddy Karl had a vision, to start a blues band. With encouragement from Karl's wife Linda, and from friend and world wide Alligator Records artist Coco Montoya. Karl was also heavily influenced by long time friend, the Ice Man Albert Collins, the Master of the Telecaster. After asking some musician friends to join Big Daddy Karl, he started to form Free Reign Blues Band. This was in 2000. After two years of struggling to find the right sound Karl decided to make a change in musicians. Karl started attending different Blues Jams in the local Seattle WA. area. After playing a few Jams, Karl met Dave Albert (Guitarist), Bill Davis (Harmonica), and then neighbor Allen Dorfman (Keyboards), and long time friend Dave Nordquist (Bass) joined. Free Reign Blues band was up and running again. Free Reign played mostly local clubs, and private party's for two years. Some more changes accured. Keyboardest Allen Dorfman left the band along with bassist Dave Nordquist. Free Reign then had some fill in players to keep Free Reign afloat. Special thanks to Mike Wright, John Gulla (Guitarists), Steve Ater, Greg Marshall, and Keith Nordquist (Bassists) for keeping the spark of Free Reign Blues Band going. Free Reign now consists of Big Daddy Karl (Vocals/Percussion/Drums), Dave Albert (Guitar/Vocals), Bill Davis (Harmonica/Vocals), Mike Fish (Bass/Backup Vocals), Chris Kliemann (Organ-Keyboards/Backup Vocals), Don Montana (Drums/Vocals).
