Why we train so hard through our summers and vacations, why we take getting screamed at by intimidating coaches all day and every day, and why we continue to play through the most stressfull of times in our lives. But the truth is, none of us would have it any other way, because to us theres nothing better than being soaked in sweat while sprinting in 85 degree weather. Nothing out there will give me the energy or the rush that a coach can give after stepping off the ice after a bad shift. And when were having the worst day of our lives with family or friends at school or work, all I can look forward to is that hour and twenty minutes that i will spend on that ice later that night breathing heavy. Theres a reason why we sit in the locker room hours after a practice or a game just shooten the shit with team mates. And the reason is because we love it. For the ones who love it, when we step out on that ice, we become invincible. Being the strongest and fastest out on the ice is the goal we all strive for, and the reward we get for being that guy is invaluble. To me, the rattle of the boards and my stick on the ice is a rhythm to live by. And most of all, i do because at times when you really need to, it's possible to skate fast enough to leave life behind.
