About Me

A house party that grew out of the home and just had to be shared! A private party in Brixton amongst friends in the summer of 2003 inspired a passion for breakbeat, a desire to share good times with good people and an alternative to the commercialism of overpriced nightclubs and overhyped club nights. But when the number of people jumping up and down starting causing structural damage we knew it was time to move out...
The vibe however remains the same: 100% Breakbeat, quality not quantity, underground not overexposed, making a difference not raking it in and creating a scene not following one – it’s partying for life, not just the weekend...
C64 is a collaboration to share and expose the talent in breaks to the most up-for-it, eclectic and growing community of breaks fans and has evolved into one of London’s hottest underground free parties. In a world and industry ever dominated by commercial interests over creativity, C64 operates outside of the money/politics/marketing madness.
Word is spreading. With no walk-in crowd, listings, advertising or flyers our community is expanding explosively through word-of-mouth alone and continues to outgrow its confines, recently moving into its 5th venue attracting partygoers from across the UK, international visitors and introducing an ever-increasing number of newcomers to the breakbeat scene.
Established acts share the stage alongside up-and-coming talent and residents DEF inc., to create a night where the music comes first. We are completely indebted to the generous artists and crew who join forces to make it happen - we all meet at many crossroads. Our goal: to inspire and push forwards a quality breakbeat scene using the transformative power of music, liberation through celebration and the development of a real community.
Quality music deserves quality production, with C64 delivered consistently each month by organisers Higher Status Events’ inimitable positive energy and kick-ass production, including sound system, intelligent lighting, lasers, and occasionally dancers and live musicians.
C64 continues to grow with a life-force of its own, now with a second Chill-Out room of funk, worldbeats and ambient sounds along with a Shisha Lounge and Chai Stall and we hope that the best is yet to come. If you're down with the spirit of free parties, into your breaks and keeping it real, then come join us at the next party…
Higher Status Events have contributed to a number of parties across the breaks scene over the past few years including the formative days of Platform 12’s club nights and boat parties, the Finger Lickin' Records’ Spring Break and recent All-Nighter at Mass, aPlump DJs album launch, a NYE collaboration with Supatronix as well as events for The End nightclub, Notting Hill Carnival, Sudden Def Records, Deepdownanddirty and events in the film, fashion and corporate industries.
For many years a free party, C64 now requests donations to cover costs but operates as an independent, non-profit making private party not a commercial club night. With no financial support we rely on your donations so please give generously to keep these parties going - all profits are used to support and promote a different grassroots activist organisation each month. Booking any party production or management services through Higher Status Events will also help fund C64 and contribute back to the breaks scene. We welcome like-minded people spreading the word but respectfully ask all to be conscious of who they invite so the vibe remains sweet for everyone. C64 has a strict door policy- no pass, no entry! Join our mailing list to get details of our parties obtain your ticket.
