About: ADICTS Entertainment
ADICTS is an emerging dance music promotions team focused on providing the ultimate entertainment experience. Responsible for the mammoth showcase that is their premier club night series, Breaks & Enter, ADICTS’ profile is rapidly growing in notoriety. With a strong foundation in the Australian dance music community, ADICTS is committed to becoming a prominent force across the globe.
The team comprises of three DJs and a technical media publishing subject matter expert with backgrounds in engineering, sales & marketing, information technology, printing and graphics design.
ADICTS formed in June 2006, the brainchild of five friends, who realised that there was much room for improvement in the delivery of dance music events in Australia and that between them, they had most of the skills, assets, affiliations, ideas and drive to be responsible for this advancement. Thus what was then, ADICT Crew, was born – an acronym for its members first names: Anthony Radaza, David Kuczynski, Iyan Barry, Chris Verner and Tate Brammer.
In September 2006, the ADICT Crew embarked upon their first club night event by joining forces with two other DJ and promotions groups. This event was of course, the infamous Jaq’d on Jorge which tested the very limits of the establishment, drawing a record crowd to the now defunct venue, Jorge on George Street. It was in the planning of this event that the ADICTS team met their final member – Sang Pham. With his inclusion, the team was aptly and appropriately renamed to “ADICTSâ€.
ADICTS launched their first club night event, Breaks & Enter, together in December 2006, and since then, the boys have taken the Brisbane Dance scene by storm, drawing records crowds to BarZuka and then blowing away all other competition in the breakbeat scene after a move to the GPO Hotel and a weekly format. Since it’s inception, Breaks & Enter has consistently drawn mass audiences and has hosted a plethora of popular international, interstate and local artists including NAPT, Alex Metric, The Skool of Thought, Koma & Bones, Rob Reng, Deekline & Wizard, Janette Slack, 30Hz, Ninelives the Cat, The Autobots, D*Funk, Cut La Roc, Tittsworth, Lady Waks, Ctrl Z, The Aquasky, The Breakfastaz, The Rogue Element, Vlad, Nick Thayer, Precision Cuts, Tamsin, Signal Drivers, B.L.I.M., Bitrok, Loose Screwz, Friendly, Diverted and Karl Sav to name but just a few. This all attributed to the event being celebrated by the Queensland public and ranked as Queensland's No. 4 Most Popular Club Night in the inthemix.com.au Top50 (ITM50) DJ Poll.
In mid 2007, ADICTS launched its Artist Management and Touring arm, the ADICTS Agency and began managing local DJs, musicians and MCs as well as importing exciting young talent from abroad to play in both Australia and New Zealand. Renamed to Blah Agency in late 2007, it represents a quality list of international artists including Lady Waks, Rob Reng, Friendly, Tom Real, Boogie Army, DJ Quest, RSK (Sonic Animation) and Vlad. Blah Agency also represents over 20 local DJs, musicians and MCs including the much famed Adicts Collective and internationally renown Bitrok.
This year has already proven to be a mammoth year for ADICTS with many unique projects including Shake n Break on Australia day (with the Brisbane Breakbeat Collective (BBC)), Yo-Play on Anzac day (a collaboration with Shifty Productions) and the launch of Breaks & Enter at the Velvet Underground in Cairns. ADICTS also have designs on two new club nights that are soon to be announced, and the highly anticipated Dümi Festival - a boutique festival which has been promised to be the epitome of the ADICTS entertainment experience!
Last but by all means not Least Big UPS to the extended ADICTS army who make everything at ADICTS possible: Emily & Freddy from TrailerMedia, Pete and Mark (aka the Signal Drivers), Darren (aka Disco Daz), Stephan (aka El Nino), Dom (aka DJL), Connor (aka Conjure), Christina, Trish, Kate, Greg, Paul and Marcus from the GPO Hotel, Joey (aka Lady Lex), Troy and Terry from ITM, Olivia from the Velvet Underground, Chris and Adrian from the Empire Hotel, Liam (aka Butterz) and Paul (aka DiLate) from Shifty Productions, Murray from Central Station Records & all the other addicts out there (you know who you are).
About: Adicts Collective
Born from the depths of Queensland's No.1 Breakbeat Night (2007 ITM50 QLD No.4 Club Night), Breaks and Enter's resident lineup, the Adicts Collective unify phat, funky and chunky beats, melodic trumpet tones, Aftrican and Latin congas style percussion, and smooth and sublime, in time-rhymes, to deliver what has been described as "definitively exciting, interactive and evidently crowd pleasing"!
The Adicts are a collective of three house/electro/breakbeat DJs, two live musicians, one MC/beatboxer and a visual DJ, united with a single purpose: to get the party started by filling out every dance floor they play to!
They are: .. DJs: Devastatin' Dave, Sangers and Verner (performing in various DJ set and Dex n Fx arrangements) Musicians: Disco Daz on Trumpet and El Nino on Percussion; MC/Beatboxer: KNO; and Visual DJ: Iyan Barry. ..
The members of the Adicts Collective met through various club night events, promoted and hosted by ADICTS Entertainment from late 2006 to early 2007. The most notable of which is Queensland's leading Breakbeat night: Breaks & Enter; a night that promotes collaborative unions between DJs, MCs and musicians.
Throughout 2007, as Breaks & Enter developed, grew and evolved, so too did the partnerships and mutual understandings that formed between its resident DJs, MCs and musicians. Sangers paired with Disco Daz on Trumpet; Devastatin' Dave aligned with El Nino on Percussion; and Verner teamed with MC KNO; each devastated the dance floor at Breaks & Enter week after week for a solid year.
One thing led to another and after a host of gigs in various venues across Queensland, the members of the collective realised that with the right coordination, there really was enough room for seven chefs in the kitchen, and together they were a greater force than any one or pairing of them alone. Adopting the “Adicts†title for which they have become synonymous with, the collective have been cooking up a storm ever since, dishing out stellar performances that have rocked each and every stage and venue to host them and delighting audiences visually and aurally across Australia.
The Adicts Collective presently hold residencies at Breaks & Enter, GPO Code Bar, the Empire Hotel, Uber, the Velvet Underground (Cairns) and have graced the stages of the Future Music Festival, Sounds Boutique / Shake n Break, Yo-Play, Ocean's 30 Sunset Festival and BBQ Breaks on New Years Day. Individually and collectively, the Adicts have appeared at the GPO Hotel, the Empire Hotel, The Met, Ambar (Perth), the Velvet Underground (Cairns) Birdy Num Nums, Uber, BarSoma, the Berlin Bar (Gold Coast), Ruby Tramp (Gold Coast), Rolling Rock (Sunshine Coast), the Sun Bar, BarZuka, The Globe, Jorge on George, Chic Boutique, Port Office, the Exchange Hotel and Fridays, and have supported the likes of Precision Cuts, Tamsin, Signal Drivers, B.L.I.M., Friendly, Diverted, Vlad, Bitrok, the Rogue Element, Nick Thayer, Madox, the Breakfastaz, the Aquasky, Smash N Grab, Ctrl-Z, Lady Waks, Tittsworth, Cut La Roc, D*Funk, the Autobots, Ninelives the Cat, Deekline & Wizard, Janette Slack, 30Hz, Rob Reng, Koma & Bones, Miles Dyson, Alex Metric, the Skool of Thought and NAPT.
To the members of the collective and to their ever dedicated faithful, the Adicts show is much more than just a musical performance; it's an entertainment experience designed and executed to completely satisfy both mind, body and soul. If you've had the Adicts experience, you'd certainly agree, that there are few shows with as much energy, passion and positive vibes. If you're an Adicts virgin… its time to get addicted!
