Richard Wright

Richard is a 20 year old Yorkshire based guitar player. He studies music/music technology at university. He has also recently discovered his talent in singing and has been practicing hard. Richard is self taught on electric guitar, but had a classical guitar teacher for two years when he played Spanish guitar. He owes much of his ability from the magazine "Guitar Techniques". Richard is available for guitar lessons to all standards and for session work also. "I am working on some songs with vocals and hopefully I will soon have an EP ready.I am also learning songs for a progressive thrash metal band called 'Hallowed Point' and once learnt I will be gigging immediately which I look forward to very much! They're a fast paced, no holds barred technical thrash frenzy of a band so I couldn't say no when they asked me to play for them!"This is me playing in the final of a talent contest. By the way I had flu when I did this,. parecetamol, Halls cough sweets and two pints of beer isn't the best combination ;)ABOUT "HELL'S KITCHEN" : This is NOT my composition! It is my version of "Hell's Kitchen" and "Under A Glass Moon" guitar solo by Dream Theater. I improvised in parts of it to add my own twist. I did this just over a year ago and I hope you enjoy it!ABOUT "ASCENSION" : All instruments parts composed and performed by me except drums are replaced by a drum machine. This song I did a few years ago and my playing was far below my standard now, so please don't judge me as a guitarist or a musician just on this. I have more recent and better compositions but I feel a bit protective about them at the moment. Anyway I hope you enjoy this nevertheless!ABOUT "ALONE" : Instrumental with emphasis on phrasing.ABOUT "ASCENSION DEMO" : Even though this does not really sound that similar to Ascension this is what led up to it. It was one of my first works on my then new digital multitrack recorder which replaced my tape one.ABOUT "SWIRL" : The first part is what happens when you come home tipsy after a good night and fancy doing a composition and then start messing around with a guitar synth patch on an FX pedal. Basically I had a laugh with this one and from memory I improvised 3 solos and this one was the best. The second part is a short atmosphearic piece I did years ago.ABOUT "LOVE ME TENDER ARRANGEMENT" : This is a piece of work I did for my AS Level music technology course. EVERY SINGLE NOTE AND BEAT I CLICKED IN CUBASE WITH A MOUSE. I didn't have a MIDI keyboard then and it took me ages. This piece of work really improved my creativity as our aim was to take the melody of a song and make the accompaniment different by composing it. It also improved my sequencing skills.
