Trace Elements - the band.
Musically, the idea is to not play the "typical" blues set, but to infuse a love of blues, rock and Texas music into a groove that won't quit....Vocalist Tracy Ready has been singing live and writing songs with other musicians for more than 25 years. He was fortunate in his youth to know and be mentored by legendary Texas musicians Augie Meyers and Doug Sahm, of Sir Douglas Quintet and Texas Tornados fame. The eighties were spent in San Antonio based progressive rock and blues bands, most notably Lifeus and Blue Streak, a band that included guitarist Kevin Lewis, now a key component of Trace Elements. In 1989, Tracy moved to Dallas, pursued a career in television, spent 5 years as a cameraman for CNN, and has now owned Trace Productions, an award winning video production business, for more than 10 years. His passion away from the career has always been music. The Trace Elements live band / recording project was initiated in 1998 with sessions at CAM Studios, in Bulverde, Texas. In the ensuing years, Trace has continued to pursue television and documentary production, all the while writing songs, singing with various band incarnations of friends and fellow musicians, putting together the live band for various showcase gigs and now, recording the debut Trace Elements CD at January Sound in Dallas and Blue Cat Studios in San Antonio. See our blog for more details.
Trace married Lauren, a dream come true, in 2006. Her help, inspiration, love and good humor in putting up with all the musical noodlings are incredible. It's only with her support that any of this stuff gets done!
Other stuff you'll find here - In 2007 Trace put together another group, The Jumpcuts with Bruce Clendenin - guitars, keys, vocals and Jason Meyers - guitars playing off the wall funny blues, rock and Americana - as a side venture to Trace Elements.

The live band seen in these videos is a dream come true for Trace. Each of the players seen here are great musicians from North Texas who all play in other area bands and assemble on occasion to showcase as Trace Elements. The lineup of musicians varies due to tour and performance schedules of the musicians involved. It is a personal treat for Tracy to be able to gig with these guys from time to time, as schedules permit. These are just open air live recordings of the band, captured on a few select nights in Dallas. Just a taste of what's to come - The audio quality on these videos is just average, as the object was to just capture the band and document a few gigs. The plan is to showcase from time to time, as schedules allow, and then to record a full length CD and accompany the CD with more polished video productions. For now, we hope you enjoy these performances. Sit back, have a cool one, and let the blues take you in.
The Demo CD recorded in 2004, features the amazing guitar and fretless bass work of good friend Kevin Lewis from San Antonio.See www.texasb-roll.com/trace-elements for details on how this "experiment" has evolved....ALSO see
