Starting out as the solo-project of then Hendersons guitarist/vocalist Rob Spleen,Rogue State attracted a second member when Max Guy( Hellborne) was asked to do guitar on a track. Max joined the project and Rogue State was born.Max brought with him a more intense guitar style instead of the more minimalist style of the earlier tracks . The bands sound has shifted to and fro but always sounding like themselves, a mix of Max's metal riffing and Rob's programming.
The sound created by the duo comprises of grinding chugging guitar riffs ontop of busy synth arpeggios, dark pads and pulsing, pounding beats. Robs vocals are usually distorted or abused in some way and samples of noise add further to the mayhem.
The first album recorded is entitiled 'A New Begining' an 11 track CD released on $lave Records, a music collective/Indie Label which Rogue State are apart of.

The second release is in the making at the moment. Also Mr Sin, vocalist from the fellow Palmerston North band Hellborne has joined to do live bass with the group.
They are have also been featured on a Dodgy Records and two $lave Records compilations
Unfortunatly Rob has moved to Australia for over a year. This puts on hold any live shows but the pair will continue to create more music together as Rogue State, and with the upcoming return to New Zealand for Rob the future begins to look brighter
