About Me

Greetings Planet Earth!Hi, my name is Mike and I am into aural sex… no wait, hang on, that doesn’t sound right… what I mean is, I like to hear music that makes the hairs on the back of my neck stand up. I like passionate music, exciting music, sexy music…You can see my influences listed on the left of this page, but to summarize: I’m a sucker for a good back beat, solid bass line, and anything loud and energetic – I’ll admit to everything from 50s Rock ‘n’ Roll through 60s Soul and Psychedelia, from 70s punk and disco through 80s/90s/00s dance and electronic, and I’m kinda excited by the recent (re) explosion of Indie and New Rave bands as they seem to capture all my influences and fuse them together nicely.DarkLight, my current project, formed in 1998 out of the ashes of my previous projects: Urban Disturbance, The Armed Love Conspiracy and The Crowleys.Timeline:1984 – 1993 Urban Disturbance - A bastard punk/metal/industrial/electronic hybrid that somehow managed, by luck rather than judgment, to produce nine, tape-only albums, plus a handful of tracks for obscure European compilations.1988 The Armed Love Conspiracy – Hard industrial/acid/trance shenanigans resulting in one single (withdrawn for legal reasons - don’t even ask!), plus a five-track E.P.1994 The Crowleys – An indie/rock three-piece plus drum machine that invaded a studio in Notting Hill one day and emerged several hours later, sweating, but with two almost credible tracks. And so to DarkLight…1998 "TrancenDance" - A short burst "breach and clear” micro-mix containing four hard four-by-four techno tracks to scare small children with.2002 "BorderCrossing" – Three mixes (“DecaDance”, “AscenDance” and “IndepenDance”) containing fragmentary “work in progress” tracks, 80 minutes in total (see below for free download info).2003 “The Scorpion” – A 20 minute psychedelic house trip created as a soundtrack for the film “Bluebeard’s Journey Into The Intestines Of A Whale” (I used to have a cut-down version on MySpace, but I could only find an analogue version and it was just sooooo jumpy it made me nervous).2005 "Astrally Projecting, Not Flying" - A much more laid back ambient affair, created as a soundtrack for the film 'REMember'.As well as producing music and film, I also published a book and occasionally dabble in art of various forms. Some of my stuff is available for free download from: www.mindcrash.co.uk (click through to the “Music” section).I’m currently working on a new track titled “I Put A Star In The Sky For You”, though my computer is trying to kill it and me with “out of memory” messages every time I try to burn it for output… wish me luck! Get in touch. I love you. Call me.
