As a performance poet, I have toured and opened for artists like Pattie Labelle, India Arie, Jill Scott and Bilal, to name only a few. Additionally, I have been blessed to showcase my talent on HBO Def Poetry, BET, PBS, The Apollo, and on a number of radio stations throughout. I've used my talents for years to teach teen girls who were incarcerated how to express themselves using poetry.Also, I am the executive producer for the online urban network called Her Side! It is dedicated to real, raw and honest programs for and about urban women!Now I have a book that pulls every bit of talent I have and every bit of experience I've recieved, as a result of all the teen girls I've worked with, to reveal to the world what is REALLY going on with us women! As women we face issues of rejection, abandonment, sexual assault and through it all we try to balance our feelings with lust, love and our attempt to control through sexuality. The book lays it out through a character named Lana! It's gotten awards, but my only wish is that EVERY woman read this book and pass it to a man once she's done. I PROMISE he won't look at you the same!Warning: VERY sexually explicit material! But the overall message can't be denied. Bottom line: If it's too explicit for you to read, then imagine how difficult it is for these girls to live!
