BALANÇO has recieved great reviews in magazines and radiostations all over the world, since it was releazed in a sold out Copenhagen Jazzhouse in November 2007.
BALANÇO is number one on Mozambiques national competion, nominated for best album of the year. It..s been on the prestigious World Music Charts Europes top 20 list for three months! And on Radio Portugals top 10 for more than half a year.
The band DEODATO SIQUIR & BALANÇO has been touring in Europe this spring, to perform at the best clubs and festivals, latest at Copenhagen Jazz Festival at the estimad Jazz by the Sea stage. More than 10.000 entusiastic fans have been clapping and groving to Siquir..s great music, performed live by a virtuous band, including Brazilian Jorge Bezerra on percussion (Zawinul Syndicate) On one occation when the bassplayer Andrzej krejniiuk couldn..t make it, the band had the pleasure to be performing with one of the worlds best bass players, Linley Marthe!

He is already working on a new project, a collaboration between Mozambican and Scandinavian musicians.BALANÇO is Siquirs debut solo album.

Deodato Siquir is drummer, singer, composer and band leader from Maputo, Mozambique .
He was born in a musicians family in 1975, and started his musical carrier at the age of 13 on a self made drum kit, and was performing as professional drummer in several orchestras from the age of 15, freelancing, performing with local & international musicians visiting Mozambique.He moved to Sweden in 2001, where he's based at the moment.
BALANÇO is recorded in Copenhagen, Denmark 2006-2007, with participation of great musicians from around the world like: Linlley Marthe, Phong Le, Sal Dibba, Nacimi Brahimi, Luis Varona, Romain Coutama, Ed Epstein, Ayi Solomon, Simon Spang Hansen, Jose Antonio, Rune Thorsteinsson, Carlos Pérez, Jakob Dinesen & Preben Carlsen.
The songs on the album are Siquirs compositions and arrangements written in the period between 2001 and 2006. The music has warm, grooving pulses from Mozambique such as Marrabenta, Muthimba, and Muganda, coloured with influences from Brazil, New York and Afro Jazz, resulting in a sophisticated vibrant sound. Add soft poetic singing in a mix of Portuguese, English and Ronga and lyrics on universal themes.
