I was born in Columbus Ohio in a nice little home on the north east side of town. With two loving parents and one younger sister, Jennifer Adams.
Our father is from a place called Independance, LA. It's really small. So home life for me reflected some of those country values and customs red beans & rice, fish fried in corn meal (I'm gone whip yo ass if you do'nt get in here and clean up this room.)etc.etc. Somebody know what I'm talkin bout.
Though I've had my share of up's and downs. I'm still thankful for those ass whippins they've saved me some adult ass whippins I'm sure of it. Thanks Dad for not sparing the rod; and thanks Mom for not telling dad when I would plead with you to avoid an ass kickin .I'm not sayin that I was bad but if the bad kids were doing it I'd done it to or had tried it.
However I also felt a little like an outsider as well coming up because of my interest and taste compared to other boys my age were quite different blues and jazz for a seven year old boy, what's really going on? I wasn't really into school all that much my grades reflected that lack of interest. My interest was and still is music.
My mother is very much involed in the church and as a child I went two times a week twice on Sunday; can you dig it? But this is where I discovered my love for music. What better place than in the church? The reason that I say this is because this is where passion and music really do their thing there is nothing like hearing a good gospel choir or vocalist.I would sing and play the drums in church picked up songs on the piano then at age twelve I started playing guitar, that was it.
NO TURNING BACK! Thats been almost twenty five years ago. By the time that I become a freshman in high school I started playing guitar for the local quartets I'll name a few Mighty Sons of God, The Praising Sons, also can't forget my run with The Gospel Clouds of Joy. This was
all before I was out of high school those were great times I also was in a R&B group called The Magic Connection. we were doing recording mostly I'm talkin 1984-1985. Then on into my twenties started to play in night clubs to make ends meet.
So in my twenties I worked in alot of bands and nite clubs in Indiana, Illious, South Carolina , I'd better not try to name all the places I've sang and played
bands I was in. To name a few one was called Top Notch, there was Soulfinger and Frankie J.and the Firm,(Frankie J.Thompson of the Bar Kays Stax recording artist)The Ark Band a national roots reggae band from Columbus Ohio.Shakerman was alot of fun I was the lead singer in this party band in around 1996 with guitarist and good friend Mike Cello Iannacello in my later twenties I got recording deal with an indie label and released Straight from the soul.I continued gigging alot fronting my own bands an also working as guitarist for artist like
Don Carlos of the Black Uhuru with whom I toured South America with in 2005.I got to see a great deal of Brazil.
