My name is Dean and I am not too complicated. I love to LAUGH. I love to make people LAUGH! I am driven to be successful. Not financially successful, although I like nice things, But successful in life. Success comes in many different forms. My ultimate goal is to leave a positive mark on as many peoples lives that I can. I am the founding member of the country group Lonestar. It is what I do for a living but not who I am as a person. MUSICIAN: I am one of those guys that can play a lot of things but just isn't great on anything. I "claim" to play piano, guitar and harmonica, although I've been doing a lot of writing on a Bazuki guitar. Am I good at it? Let's just say I've written some songs on it and leave it at that!
PRODUCER: Producing is a huge passion for me. There is nothing like taking a new talent, put them in the studio and help them reach even beyond their potential. I have produced a little bit of everything. Over the years I've worked with Pop artists and Rock artists, but Country is what I love the most. Nothing I've worked on so far has been on the radio, but a couple of my acts have had development deals and one Indy deal that never came out. My style of producing is very interactive. I am involved in every aspect of the recording process when I produce. Working with the musicians, to the singers...I also do all my own editing. Working with singers I've learned that giving them a lot of positive input, along with a good kick in the pants when they need it, and pushing the "I guess you just can't do it" button seems to make the really good singers great. I've been involved in a lot of projects over the last 11 years. My goal is that as many people possible hear all the great talent I have had the pleasure of working with. I do most of my basic tracks at various studios in Nashville. I do all of the overdubs and editing at my home studio. I run Protools HD 192. Version 7:1. YEH BABY!WRITER: I've been writing for a long time. My first cut happened 11 years ago with one of Country Music's great singers Joe Diffie. He recorded a song of mine called "I'm Willing To Try". This song was co-written by John Jarrard and Wendell Mobley. The version you are hearing on this site is my demo of the song, not Joe's version and is sung by Wendell. You can find Joe Diffie's version on his Life's So Funny album.
I wrote the title track "This Christmas Time" in 2000 for our first and only Christmas record we've ever made. I co-wrote this song with my buddy Marv Green (co-writer of "Amazed). This record is a must have for your collection!
In 2004 I had the pleasure of having two songs of mine on our "Let's Be Us Again" CD. The tracks I wrote are "Women Rule The World" and "Summertime." "Women Rule The World" was co-written with Brett James and "Summertime" was co-written by Rivers Rutherford and Tom Shapiro.
In 2005 I co-wrote with Brett James what I feel to be the best song I've been a part of writing thus far called "I Just Want To Love You." You can find this song on our CD "Coming Home". Because the CD didn't do as well as we all had hoped, I plan on pitching this to other great artists and hopefully you will hear it on a radio station near you soon. Give it a listen and give me some feedback PLEASE!
Finally in late 2006 we came out with a new CD "Mountains" and I co-wrote a song on there called "I Wanna Do It For You." My co-writers on this one are Regie Hamm and our new acoustic guitar player and friend of mine Glen Mitchell. Jason Aldeen's label wanted this song for him but I chose to keep it with us. Mistake? Give it a listen and tell me what you think on this one also. I've had cuts with various Canadian artists including a top 20 in Canada with a song called "Who Needs The Moon" by an artist named Chad Klinger.
