Gay Life Expo

About Me

The Gay Life Expo made its debut on September 9-10, 2000, and will be celebrating it's 8th anniversary this yer with a return to the Jacob Javits Center on November 15-16, 2008. At that first expo, the New York Agency for Children's Services attended and educated prospective gay parents about adoption. The New York Fire and Police Department came out with full support, recruiting gays and lesbians to become the city's finest and bravest. The event was so unique that it received media coverage from every major newspaper n the city. It was an unprecedented gathering of our community and a milestone in public business support.
In 2001, they were anxiously preparing for the second New York City Gay Life Expo when tragedy struck our city. The Expo, originally planned for September, was postponed due to the horrific events that took place on September 11, 2001. However, due to massive support form our community and exhibitors nationwide, the company persevered and the Expo was rescheduled, taking place November 17 and 18 with more than 200 exhibitors. The gay community would not be cowered by the acts of terrorism. Despite the fact the Gay Life Expo was the only exhibition in the city's largest convention center, there wasn't a single exhibitor missing and the attendance was large and supportive. That year the spirit of the Expo was fueled by the optimistic revitalization we, as New Yorkers, were all undertaking to help our city back to its feet.
In an attempt to serve various gay communities around the country, the Gay Life Expo Miami Beach was created and premiered April 5 and 6, 2003. The New York City Expo followed that year in November.
In 2004, the company was overwhelmed with a positive response when we returned to Miami in June. We took on the thriving gay community of Southern California and debuted the Gay Life Expo Los Angeles in September, and New York again in November. Over the years, the Gay Life Expo New York has grown to the giant event it is today, with nearly 300 exhibitors and thousands of attendees annually. Ten Gay Life Expos have been produced in six years, with more cities and events planned for the future. The Expo Division of HX was built upon the mission of producing event for our community that are relevant and real, that reflect the aspirations and diversity of our lives. HX Media LLC, brings our community together.
