Gabrielle Sorensen is a soprano from Norway. She started singing with Anne Brown at the age of 16 and never looked back. She studied singing with Isabel Gentile in Rome where she attended the Conservatorio di Perugia, before moving to London where she received a first class degree from Trinity College of Music.
Since graduating Gabrielle has worked as a freelance musician and music teacher. She has performed with various opera companies, choral societies and ensembles. Recently she performed Anna Lionowens from The King and I by Rodgers where she got the chance to show her acting skills as well as her singing.
Amongst her opera repertoire you find roles like The Countess from The Wedding of Figaro by Mozart, Ilia from Idomineo by Mozart, Titania from Midsummernight’s Dream by Britten, Cleopatra from Giulio Cesare in Egitto by Handel and Marcelline from Fidelio by Beethoven. Her oratorio repertoire includes Stabat Mater by Pergolesi, The Creation by Haydn, St Matthew Passion, St John Passion by Bach, Gloria by Vivaldi, The Messiah by Handel.
In 2002 she co-founded the vocal ensemble Gjallar Ensemble, who specialize in madrigals and folk music. In 2005 she sang with the prestigious Bournemouth Sinfonietta Choir. Other choirs and Ensembles she has sung with include The Trinity Chamber Choir in London, and Il Gonfalone in Rome.
